I would like to learn more about Judism, mainly, because my boyfriend is Jewish.

I know a few things, like Jews don't necessarily believe in hell, Yom Kippur is their high holiday and Passover is when they fast.

We have another year to go in college (yeah!!), and we have been dating for three years, and I am pretty certain we are getting married. We haven't really thought about how our kids will be raised, so that's why I would like to know more about it. It's a very interesting relationship, because when I ask a question about their doctrine, etc. we get side tracked, and talk about somethinge else, so that's why I haven't learned very much over the past three years.

Actually only first-born sons need to fast on Passover and only if they do not participate in some sort of Torah-related teaching that first day.

The only other mandated fast days are Yom Kippur and Tisha B'Av, which commemorates the destruction of the Temple. An optional fast day is the Fast of Esther, during the holiday of Purim.

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have, feel free to send me an e-mail or private message.

Barbara
