Wonder if they'll film "Goat" at KS or Clemson?
Emile Hirsch Lands the Lead in "Goat"
Jun 10 2005
Based on Brad Land's "Goat: A Memoir"
"Lords of Dogtown" star Emile Hirsch has signed on to the dramatic movie, "Goat," based on Brad Land's "Goat: A Memoir." David Gordon Green ("Undertow") wrote the adaptation and will direct "Goat."
"Goat" is Brad Lang's story of being the victim of two strangers who beat him up, robbed him, and left him for dead. Following that incident, Lang followed his older brother to college where he joined a fraternity and was subjected to brutal hazing rituals.
Scott Rudin and Christine Vachon will produce the film. John Wells will executive produce. Filming is expected to begin later this year.
Emile Hirsch will next be seen alongside Justin Timberlake in "Alpha Dog.

Just what We as Greeks need.
I have that book and while not all that well written, it is a sad testimony to Greeks and the Kappa Sigma Chapter where it took place..

While we all agree that hazing is despicable and unproductive behavior, don't forget that sensationalized stories sell books and tickets; they also produce website hits. Let us not forget the outright lies, half-truths, and misinformation foisted upon us by Alexandra Robbins, the "minister", and the lovely mother/daughter Verzys.
Hoosier, I can assure you that the producers won't be filming on Kappa Sigma property. I also doubt that Clemson would allow such negative publicity to be shot on their campus.

I agree with some of Your Post and disagree with much of it.
This is not "Animal House" that raised such a Hail Storm.
This is a situation that did happen and was written about by the Individual. While not well written, it still makes one think. I was so mad and so sad at the same time, I did not know what to say.
You talk about Web Hits, well, I wonder How many Parents will want to even think about this happening to their Special Sons. Or Young men wha cannot wait to go through the same situation.
I just feel that this type of Movie will give a huge Jaundiced slant to all Greeks.
It damn sure wont be a comedy will it?

A creative writing group on our campus sponsored a lecture by Brad Land this spring. It was not at all what I expected. First of all, he is very...odd, to be blunt. He didn't write "Goat" as a book about fraternity hazing, but more so about his relationship with his brother and its transition over a very difficult period in his life. He didn't condemn fraternities at all, he just said that we should all be doing as much as we can to love one another. It was not at all what I had prepared for. I expected this very angry lecture, when in reality it was very subdued. Even talking with the people from the creative writing group afterwards, they all said that it was completely different from what they expected. Afterwards, one of my students had him sign a copy of his book, and I asked him about the fraternity hazing. He told me he had never been contacted by anyone from Kappa Sig, and that he didn't see the fraternity hazing being the real story of the book. He said that was what the critics and book reviewers really latched on to. To him, the book is really about his relationship with his brother...
It was wierd but interesting to say the least.

Very intersting input.
Now that I think about it, what you reported is very true.
But in reading this, I was dismayed by the events portrayed in the book.
