What was everyone's worst job? Mine was bagging groceries. How degrading.

My was at this popular women's retail store. My assistant manager was gay which is no problem at all for me but he would get mad at me every time a guy would come into the store and hit on me. He came up to me at one point and actually said to me, "You're taking away my men!" I'm like, "I'm sorry that they're straight!" Sunday was cleaning day where we would windex all the store windows, mop the floors, dust the displays, and use the high-power cleaners on the countertops. I came in a skirt because my manager, who liked me, told me I would be on register. Well, my assistant manager who hates handed me a toothbrush and told me to clean the floors and toilet with it. And he was totally serious! I refused so he got on my case for the rest of the day. This little kid came into the store later on and threw-up all over the carpet. My assistant manager told me to clean it. No way! Well, the idiot didn't feel like cleaning it and thought he could get me in trouble. So, he left it there over night. My manager came in the next day and threw a fit. My assistant manager told the manager that he asked me to clean it and that I refused. She was like, "And she shouldn't have to. That's your responsibility!" I quit two days later. Two years later, he's still working there! I thought he'd be fired by now....

My woprst job was at this enviromental type thing for the State of MD, and it was just aweful. I mean we did good for the enviroment, but we worked in the behind the scenes part of parks and stuff. So anyway we would be in rivers, swamps, lakes, surrounded by snakes, mosquitos, bees wasps, everything. It was just icky and nasty.

A pool cashier. I had Sundays and one day during the week off. The next day, I always found my books/records screwed up from the day before. Darn bratty kids. Parents who couldn't understand that swimming classes were full. When it rained, we didn't report to work and no pay for those days (gotta love tropical storms and the threat of hurricanes).

personal assistant to hollywood hot shot. he was egomaniacal a-hole who delighted in degrading his staff daily. He screamed at us constantly.
One moment--
On a date, 10pm on a Saturday night, he pages me and demands I immediately come to his house on an urgent issue. I drive 45 minutes to his house to find that what he needed was---
"Amy--when we're in the playroom with the kids and the phone rings we can't get to it before the machine picks up."
what did he need me to do? Unplug the phone in the next room and plug it into the jack in the playroom.
Unbelievable.
But i must have been a masochist, as I worked for him for 3 years. Not always as his asst, but it was always pretty bad.

French fries guys at McDonald. It is true, those who work in McDonald will try to avoid if if all possible. Yuck. Also love being burned everyday.

Worked in a hospital kitchen:
Delivering trays to patients - Once walked in on some old guy "pleasuring" himself...ewwww!
Gettin the food trays ready - You would not believe how fast an assembly line goes when you have no clue what the difference between a blue or yellow dot means. Line was constantly stopped due to my having missed putting something on the tray.
Scraping dishes - Half eaten food from sick patients...not fun!
Loading the dishwasher - Actually the best job in the whole place.
Emptying the dishwasher - HUGE machine that threw off temperatures that people wouldn't even enjoy in a sauna, while picking up scalding hot dishes and placing them in the right racks before the dishwasher got jammed, all in the middle of the summer in a non-air conditioned room.

my worst job would probably have to be while i worked at Bath and Body works.
I hated the on-call shifts. For example let say that on tuesday i was on call from 7-10pm. At 6pm i would have to call in and say "yeah, i have an on call shift tonight, do you need me to come in?" then they would check how busy they were and how many people they had scheduled to work and then they would either say "no, we dont need you" or "yeah, come on in!". It was a pain because like on weekends you couldnt really plan on going out or not because you didnt know if you were going to have to go in to work or not.
Plus, most of the time we werent that busy, except christmas time- so the manager would be the one to work the register and everyone else, which would really only be one other person, would have to restock the entire store. That was annoying because the store is long not wide, so pushing the little cart full of lotions and shower gels around the store was hard. I also had to carry around my little ladder so i could reach the top shelves.
About twice a month we would have to stay until about 1am on a saturday to redecorate and take out new items. I hated this the most. My boss was so rude and so when she gave me the picture of how everything was supposed to look, i carefully arranged everything so it could look perfect. Once i was done i told her to come check it, since she had, and when she got there she told me that since our store is totally opposite from most, i had to turn everything around and what was supposed to be on the left needed to go on the right hand side and etc. I was so mad at her for not telling me in the first place!
The worst thing of all was that when i finally got my other job, where im at now- i told them i couldnt come in to work on monday (because i would be training at the other place) they got mad at me since they knew it was probably for another job. I had already put in my two week notice and so they told me i couldnt apply to any other store in their company like express and structure. Isnt that ridiculous?? Anyway on the paper i had to sign, i explained exactly what happened and that i didnt think that was fair. Hopefully i wont have to work in retail again though- unless i want to!

Telephone survey research for the university..Having to call people on the east coast during a huge hurricane, having old creepy men hit on me and ask me if I have a boyfriend, trying to keep people on the phone for a 20-45 minutes survey when they didn't want to talk to me to begin with, lots and lots of rude people hanging up on me and then still having to call them back 3 more times(gotta love that policy), on national surveys having people think that I was calling from the university of mexico, not NEW mexico..not to mention that I hated the supervisors/my boss, had been there for a year and was never promoted like people who were hired after me, only thing that kept me there was the pay was pretty decent, and it was located directly behind my house..owell..

My worst job was actually at K-mart! It was awful. My manager was a lesbian and her girlfriend was the security guard!! The people there were absolutly horrible. I was treated like an it and not even a person!! It was awful. I finally end up getting out of there!! Thats the worst job I ever had!
