MC Lyte

Hey SoRhors,

I had the pleasure of meeting Soror Lana Moorer bka MC Lyte at the Pantene Total You Tour this past weekend. She was very pleasant and nice. She proudly threw up the handsign and took pictures with us. Her manager even had a camera to take pictures for her personal album, I thought that was hot!! When she was on stage she was like "Hey Sorors", giving us a shout out from the stage. It was definitely an experience.

I just wanted to share my experience with everyone.

She also gave a great performance!

Soror, you've had a Sigma Moment! Congrats!
Though I haven't had the chance to meet her yet, I'm sure Soror Moorer is as wonderful as you experienced. FYI, you will have more Sigma Moments. Eee-yipp!

Thumbs up

I really would like to meet her. She always seemed so down-to-earth and real. I am glad you posted this.

Greeting to all the beautiful ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. I just wanted to say that I truly respect your sorority to the utmost. My mother and my aunt are both members of your illustrious sorority...had I been female (which I glad I'm not ), there's not a shadow of a doubt that I would have persued membership!

I hope I'm not overstepping my boundaries by asking this, but is MC Lyte an honorary member, or were she initiated in an undergraduate or grad chapter. Not that it really matters, but I am interested in knowing. My mother and I met her back in '91 during the taping of a tv show. Had my mother knew she was her sorority sister, the conversation would have really been on.lol.

Have a great day!

Bro. Strawter,

I am currently trying to clarify that for myself. I was informed that she was to be initiated last year as an honorary member. Now whether she was made as a regular member I was trying to determine. Sorors on GC, do you know?

I personally don't like the term "honorary" for anything. Either you are or you aren't.

SoRhor BlueReign and Bro. Strawter,

Soror Moorer was inducted in December of 2004 as an honorary member. I agree with you SoRhor BlueReign, either you are a soror or not! I have a soror in my chapter who was inducted as an honary soror back in the eighties and when I tell you she is a soror, she definitely is!!! She exemplifies our sorority pledge to the fullest!!! I admire her very much.

I have been informed that MC Lyte (Lana Moorer) is an honorary Soror. I still love her!

Did anyone go?

I was not able to make it to this event. I had class Saturday and then since I was in the area, I stopped by an event The Links had for children. I was seriously trying to be in 2 places at one time!

She was featured on the last page of last month's Essence. I happened to have bought it since Usher was on the cover.
