regifting, anyone?

one of the presents my secret santa gave me was a walgreens bath kit that I regifted to the business manager. the teacher across the hall gave a really strange snowman coverlet that's going to a friend who collects snowmen. i also got a very strange musical egg from another teacher. you open it and it plays "you are my sunshine." sigh!
by the way....nice earrings, a care bear, candy and a chicago bears figurine were the nice presents from ole ss.

My aunt gave me $150 to Pier 1 for graduation and Christmas last year. I am just now spending it on Christmas gifts for others. How many candles can one girl own?

The first time I regifting was when my exboyfriend in an attempt to be cute bought like 10 bags of hersey's kisses and spelled out "I Love You" on my bed. There were so many Hersey's kisses and there was no way I was going to eat all of them so for christmas I made little gift bags filled with hersey's kisses for random people I had to get gifts for but didnt want to spend any money on. The boy found out later but whatever he got over it.

I always get gorgeous bath sets, but I'm allergic to bath beads, bubble baths, etc. I'll regift them because it's such a shame to have them go to waste and I know so many girlfriends who can use all the incentives to relax that they can!

I don't look at it as regifting, I consider it recycling of the first order. So many times, we get things from someone who really doesn't know us that we will NEVER, EVER use in this lifetime - but we know someone who would absolutely LOVE the very same thing.

I say, know your recipient, and regift with no regrets whatsoever!!

Just be careful who you re-gift.

When The Lion King (the Disney movie, not musical) was a big thing, I gave a Lion King calendar to a friend of mine who was a big fan. Her birthday was in October.

When Christmas rolled around that year, she gave me a gift. It was the same calendar.

I don't know if she was just careless or rude. However, I really liked the calendar myself but didn't actually want to buy one for myself.

LOL thats horrible! Did you ever call her on it? Reminds me of the movie Old School and that food processor hehe.

It was 7th or 8th grade. Since I was low on the social totem pole, I kept my mouth shut.

We had a white elephant gift exchange at work today, aka regift city.

I gave an ornament I got at our Jaycee awards and installation banquet. It is really pretty but I'm Jewish...what am I going to do with an ornament? I got a sandwich maker.

My sister regifted a gift our sister gave to her. It was a date book for the previous year so it was a year out of date. The regifter had never opened it so she didn't know that it had the dates printed on it. It was pretty funny. She opened it and said, "Oh this looks familiar."

I have two cousins that did this for years!! The one gave the other a "family heirloom" (read: tacky statue); the other cousin gave it back for another holiday; the first one gave it again for yet another holiday - and so it went for years! It became a major joke among the family.

I really wanna regift an Abercrombie sweater that a certain ex gave me for christmas last year. I need to be about a foot taller to wear it, and WHO GIVE SOMEONE IN SOUTH TEXAS A SWEATER?? What, I get to wear it 2 times a year? Its like 70 here damn near all winter long.

That or exchange it. Dont knwo what Abercrombies exchange policy is. I still have the packign slip. I dunno. Right now its camped out inthe box in my closet.

There is just something fundamentally tacky about normal regifting . . although some of what you have mentioned seem ok . . like the candy, or the book to a little girl.

But otherwise it kind of reeks of being cheap. I just wouldn't give them a gift.
