Most of my chapter's bid day shirts were inoffensive for certain ("One of a Kind," "There's No Place Like Home," "What a Woman")... but, then again, I can't think of any bid day shirts at UGA that could be considered offensive at all.
My chapter did the "Ever wonder if you pledged the right house? We don't!" shirt for recruitment my sophomore year, and I never heard anyone on campus say anything negative about it. Most of my non-Greek friends thought it was cute, and none of the other Greeks brought it up as an issue.

I think recruitment shirts are made for the purpose of instilling spirit, so you can get away with slogans some might consider snarky. On the other hand, bid day is a celebration, not a time to make others feel badly for not being chosen. Those "snarky" slogans, though, are pretty appropriate for competition events, like Derby Days, Greek Week, and even Recruitment.

Fall 2004 Bid Day Shirts-A few from my school:

Ours- (letters on front). Back: "You're the sisters fate forgot to give me."

Delta Zeta- (Tiffany colored letters) Back: "If found please return to- DZ & Co. Bid Day"

Delta Gamma- Pink letters on front. Back: (pictures of shoes) "The perfect fit"

Alpha Xi Delta- Teal letters on front. Back: "I'm lovin' it"

I don't recall Chi Omega's or Alpha Phi's, but in general everyone's slogans were pretty cute and sisterly, not snarky.

We also did the UPS shirt here just the back said "Professional Box handlers since 1899" those seem to be a big hit also.

 | that is tres cute.

We don't do bid day shirts, just greek week and homecoming. For homecoming, the theme was Otterbein Pride Worldwide. Ours had our letters on the front, Homecoming 2004 and on the back it say "letter letter, taking over the world one kitten at a time" with a cat sleeping on top of the earth. I thought it was super cute. We opted not to get shirts for greek week, but we went to Olympics (which were being held at like 7 am!) with hanes tshirts with our letters in Sharpie marker on the front. And on the back it said "We'd Rather be Sleeping!"

another house on campus made these shirts for their seniors last year..."XYZ Seniors: If I had to pay for my friends, then I didn't get paid enough!". Which I thought was super cute.

I want to do a shirt that says "Puurrrrrfect sisterhood" with a cat because of our mascot.

While it's in poor tastes, if someone had a t-shirt that said "friends don't let friend go XYZ" then all hell would break loose. I guess I'm just pointing out another double standard.
I don't know how it is elsewhere, but practically everyone here has a "friends don't let friends go to Bama" shirt, and vice versa for the kids in Tuscaloosa.

But back to the topic--I don't think any sororities here do the snarky (fun word!) tees. I think the "worst" one we ever did was the Bid Day shirt from when I pledged that had our letters on the back (one in sun, the next in a moon, the last in a star) that said "If you're going to go Greek, why not be a Goddess?" Most Bid Day shirts have cute quotes about sisterhood or girlfriends on them that I've seen. We did the "I didn't come to college to find a husband, I came to find my bridesmaids" shirt for Big/Lil Revelation one year.

I think that most slogans like that aren't used to intentionally hurt anyone's feelings; it's just for the members to show the immense pride they have for their sorority. There's nothing wrong with that! |

The year I pledged our bid day shirts said "Star light, star bright, I got the wish I wished tonight" and then on the bottom it says "Some stars shine a little brighter than others." which I think is a little catty in a sneaky way, and I loved it.
Same year, the Kappa's bid day shirts said "A few good women... Kappa got them all", which I also thought was pretty funny.

				New shirt ideas

I was browsing eBay for a letter sweatshirt, and I found a store that had some very cute, some snarky, and some highly amusing skirts that could be for rush, sisterhood, or whatnot. I couldn't post all the funnies, so here's the direct link to the store. My favorite was the Sig Ep one with the Cat and the Hat on the back that said, "You've grown up loving a Sig Ep. Now you can become one! Rush Sigma Phi Epsilon." I don't know what guys would think of it, but I thought it was cute. AOII also had a sweet one that said "I'm an A-O-Cutie-II"

I'm hoping they'll add some cute ones that I can let my chapter know about.

*This year our shirts were a quarter sleeved baseball tee with letters on the front. On the back it said: In a league of our own! Fall Bid Nigt 2005.

I remember when I was in school some fraternity had a picture of their pledge pin on the front and then on the back it said "If you didn't get one, we didn't want you".
 Classy. That'll help Greek unity.

				snarky t-shirt slogans

My absolute favorite, but one that I would never be caught wearing, saysIf you were out with an XYZ last night, raise your hand.
If you weren't, raise your standards.

 This one's really risky:
Front: In XYZ, size DOES matter
Back: How big is your heart?

Some other ones I've seen and liked:
 Front: XYZs, always half naked....
Back: B/c I gave my brother the shirt off my back.

XYZ...because class isn't just something you attend

All (men/women) were created equal until (year)

We didn't create (sisterhood/brotherhood), we just perfected it.

Winning is our business, and business is good

Be careful of what you wish for, it might come true

History does repeat itself. It's called tradition

 It's a XYZ thing, you wouldn't understand

 Loved, hated, but never ignored

If joining XYZ were easy, then everyone would do it

They set the standard, we set the tradition

In a world of compromise, some (men/women) don't.

We pledged the best and then made it better.

Friendships last forever, when sisters come together

Friends by chance, sisters by choice

 XYZ...enough said

XYZ...Walk in our shoes or stand in our shadows

The next best thing to being an XYZ is being an XYZ's date

XYZ is not your only choice, it's the only choice that matters

On the road of life, there are friends, and there are (sisters/brothers)

There's something special about the (sorority color) ones

There are two kinds of women in the world, XYZ and those who wish they were

XYZ ... Standing out, but never standing alone.

If you have to ask...you're not qualified.

The few, The proud, The XYZs.

XYZ separates the men from the boys.

Before you go greek, know who the (Gods/Goddesses) are.

 We don't rebuild, we reload

Everbody wants to be somebody, XYZs already are.

3 times better with just one letter

This one is hysterical, but I would never want to see one of our members wearing it - wayyyyyyyyyy too arrogant, and not at all the rep we want to have, even during some sort of competition:
on the front: "-184-" (number of girls in the chapter)
on the back: "Just a reminder of how many butts you'll be kissing when this is all over"

				fall 05 shirts

The most arrogant shirt at my school read sorority nickname on front and "Perfection by selection" on the back. Formal rush at my school can be very tough, so I just found this shirt insensitive. Funny thing was the shirt wasn't even for one of the "top" sororities.
Our Fall '05 bid day shirts were pale green baby tees w/ a juicy couture like emblem on the front and bid day 05 and on the back said "If you're gonna go Greek, be a Goddess"

I know this cuz I picked it out when I was in charge of bid day shirts! It's actually really cute when you think about it. If it said "Selection by Perfection" THAT would be mean... like you're only picking the perfect girls. The real shirt is a compliment to the new girls, saying that we selected you to make our chapter even more perfect. You don't have to be the #1 on campus to wear it.
