I just learned today that the husband of a fellow NJ alumna is in need of open heart surgery!

Mr K is in his mid-30's and since he was a teen he knew he had a heart murmur. Recently he went to the doctor feeling tired, coughing, etc, and was sent to a cardiologist, who gave the diagnosis that the aortic valve is failing/leaking & will need to be replaced. Mr and Mrs K went to a surgeon at Columbia/NY Presby a few weeks ago & are meeting with a 2nd surgeon this Friday. The doc said it is leaking heavily, but they don't know how long it has been leaking. His next test is in Oct & we will have a better gauge then.

Please keep Mr and Mrs K - and their darling 4-yr old legacy - in your prayers.

First let me say you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

I think I'm a little embarrassed, but a few prayers can't hurt, right? My fiance and i are in need of a little help from above... he is job hunting without much luck and now I am in danger of being laid off (hopefully not!). We just bought our first house (a small one, mind you

) and are getting married in October (self-financed). I'm pretty worried about cash flow at the moment....and good thoughts coming our way might help ease some of the stress.

Instead of enjoying the time leading up to my wedding, I'm freaking out about money... how sad.

This probably doesn't even compare with what so many of you have posted, but I think I needed to get it "out."

Oh honey believe me I know how you feel about money issues! I was almost laid off this past spring and my boyfriend and I hadn't even owned our home for a year (a small one too)....and we cannot even afford an engagement ring nevermind the wedding! So you have a sister here on your side and knowing how you feel!!! Times will get better for all I promise!

Hey all,

So if everyone could keep their fingers crossed for me I would be really appreciative.

I am trying to buy my first house (gulp). I got pre-qualified no problem I'm just worried about the qualification process. We have already but a deposit on the land, so the land is mine, just need to be qualified for the mortgage (did I spell that right?).

So keep your fingers crossed for me. As soon as I know more I'll let y'all know.

If you get prequalified you should be pretty golden....as long as you have established credit and your debt to income ratio is low youre fine! Well also as long as you dont have a previous bad credit history. Good luck!

Please pray really hard for my baby. I just received a call from my OB's office and she requested that my husband and I go there at 2:30 to meet with her. My blood work indicated a possibility of Downs Syndrome, and I am going to have to have an ultrasound, then possibly an amnio. Please pray for us. My husband and I are freaking out.
