Our Bid Day is tonight...I am so excited! What usually goes on at Bid Day and what should I wear?

You will spend the rest of the day with your new sisters, getting to know them AND your new member class. There will probably be food, games, a chance to learn sorority songs, etc.
You will probably be OK if you wear shorts and most likely you will get a bid-day shirt - the first in a long line of sorority shirts you will own.
You will most likely be informed of the chapter meeting schedule, when your pledging ritual will take place, etc.
Good luck...and don't forget to tell us what chapter you've joined!

At bid day you will get the chance to meet your new sisters. You'll probably be provided dinner or snacks, then, perhaps go to a party at an alum's house or at your new sorority house.
At Tech, the new Alpha Phi members come to the house, where we give them a their first letter shirt. We take a ton of pictures, and give the new members gifts. For many years the mayor of Lubbock, Windy Sitton (an Alpha Phi) hosted a reception at her home for all the new members.
This is also the time when you will learn what to expect during your new member period (or pledgeship).
Above all, expect to have fun. Usually just wear jeans or nice shorts--you'll probably be changing into a new Greek-letter shirt!
Congratulations to you! What sorority will you be joining?

what to wear on bid night
At my school, each sorority tells its new members what they're supposed to wear when they show up for bid night. Included in the envelope with your bid card is another card telling you when and where to show up for bid night, and what to wear. We always have a professional photographer take a photo of the entire sorority (new girls included), and we usually have the new people wear something different from what the rest of the house is wearing so they'll stand out in the picture. This past bid night, all the active members wore all black, and the pledges were told to wear black pants with a colorful top. Other houses had the girls wear black pants and a certain color top, or khakis and a white top. They'll give you instructions if they want anything in particular.

Like most of the other replies, we wore jeans or nice shorts, and comfy shoes, cause you will probaly be out on your feet pretty late, and we were given a Bid Day t-shirt to change into. But if they want you in something specific, they should inform you.
Congrats, and let us know who your sisters are!!!!
