I hate the use of Zeta and Phi Mu - but I have to admit that it looks better than the usual dreck. At least the Zetas have a sense of "individuality". That said, it's not on my list of must-sees.

I really hate to admit that I laughed....but I did. I agree though, I wish they had used other letters/names.

Maybe I saw another trailer, but I don't see a reference to Phi Mu?

And I have to say, unless the group is using the nickname "Zeta" and their house letters are in a blue, does that really mean they are trying to rip off the entire sorority?

If they had everything in common then I'd probably think differently.

I believe the "bunny" reference is in regards to her being a Playboy bunny... unless that happens to be the mascot of Zeta Alpha Zeta.

Well, the problem is when you say "Zeta" - who do you think of? Many non-greeks won't get it - but many will, and I'd hate for anyone to see the movie, and go on campus and hear about the "Zetas" and think of this movie. And the Phi some other letter Mus are the evil sorority that is trying to get the "Zetas" kicked out of their house. There are many letter combinations they could have used that have no NPC relations - thus avoiding the problem altogether. I don't think they are ripping off the same sorority, it's just that it references two sororities that would not in a million years, I imagine, allow their names to be used for this movie.

True... =but= I just think we as Greeks get a little carried away with the whole "OMG I HOPE THE GDIS ON MY CAMPUS DON'T THINK WE'RE JUST LIKE THIS SORORITY IN A MOVIE OR TV SHOW BECAUSE WE ARE NOT LIKE THAT AND WE WANT EVERYONE TO LOVE US AND JOIN US" thing.

Seriously, if there were an ADPi-like sorority on a TV show and some random college kid thought we were all meanies because of the one they saw on TV, wouldn't let it phase me because it's TV!!! Who cares.

It's one thing if the show is portraying Greeks as evil hazers and they use a real org's name and it's quite another when a show or movie uses something that may sound similar and the worst sterotype they can come up with is being the house of meanies.

People who want to hate Greeks or sterotype them ALWAYS WILL. Even if they saw a movie or TV show that made us look like the most awesome people in the world.

There are only so many greek letter combinations they can use, and I honestly doubt the movie execs/writers/whoever go through a massive list of every single GLO to see if there is anything "close". I'm sure they certainly try to make sure they aren't infringing on copyright stuff, but that's about as far as I would expect them to go. If ZTA has "Zeta" copyrighted and there are other major similarities (same sort of letters/colors/mascots/philanthropies/etc) then yea, I'd say there is a problem.

And regarding the "Phi" sorority, are you serious? Just because a sorority has the same number of letters and starts with the same letter does not neccesarily mean they are trying to copy a sorority.

So because the sorority has two greek letters that are actual greek letters of a real sorority that means they are obviously trying to depict Phi Mu!

There are only so many combinations people. If they are ripping off all the other things of that sorority, then it would be an issue.

And unless the Zeta sorority in the movie has a bunny mascot also, I still don't see how they are "obviously" referring to Zeta. The girl in the movie was a PLAYBOY bunny. It's part of the plot. I'm sure if the Zeta sorority used a turtle mascot they would 'obviously' be ripping of Delta Zeta because there is a Zeta in the name and the turtle is their mascot...

I think it looks cute... but yes offensive to greek life and women, generally. Two redstripes beforehand and I'll be good to go, incapable of any feminist critiques ;-)

Uh-oh, the chapter houses they drive past in the beginning of the video looks suspiciously like Fraternity Row at Maryland, my alma mater. It looks kind of old though. Much of the student body DEFINITELY sounds like that (accent wise) at Maryland too....................

Give it a break. This junk only happens, IYVHO, in Northern Schools and Chapters???

I saw a link, awhile ago, involving a Southern Chapter (not one of mine) in what I can only call INTERNET porn.
Not only were they and some of the girls wearing letters, they showed a printed invite. And that was in the first few minutes, after which I cleaned out my system with bleach.

While this is a piss-poor showing, IIRC I have seen a few better shows giving a better POV. On A&E or Discovery IIRC.
This one one started with an attitude and a rather clear agenda. Which would make one wonder just how much of it was on the up and up.

That was the most annoying parody ever.

As for the F word being used all the time and other things depicted, I say it's not too unrealistic but this is clearly an exaggerated depiction. And the voice over is annoying.
