Post a random fact you know

I was at work today and one of my coworkers informed me that the average person eats 9 spiders unknowingly on average a year...while this gross me out it also intrigued me...does anyone else have a random fact like that they know that is kind of cool?

pass that old silver goblet with the Phi Mu upon it and we'll all have another round of *cheer* cuz it's not for knowledge that we came to college but to have fun while we're here!

DG phoney, I had heard this before too. They said it happens when you are sleeping, no joke. One can only imagine what kind they are. I am guessing the really tiny ones.

Random facts? how about:

80% of all backrubs from the opposite sex lead to some form of sexual activity with that person, at some point in time (ie you only give/receive back rubs from people you're interested in) - from the Heit report on human sexuality

i'll try to think of some more later

Yo Ksig. That is very beliveable. There were a wholotta backrubs given out my freshman year at school. Haven't seen much of it around since. Think that is part of the freshman expierience, or people just getting a feel for the campus? (pardon the pun)

Though hyenas are thought of by most people as scavengers, they are actually accomplished hunters. Lions steal more kills from hyenas, than hyenas from lions.

O3, the component that makes up Ozone, is actually detrimental to the ozone layer! I can't remember how, though. Something about it being really unstable.

Cool topic! Here are some of the ones I've heard.

*The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time television were Fred and Wilma Flintstone.

*Every day, more money is printed for Monopoly than for the US Treasury.

*Coca Cola was originally green.

*The average cost of raising a medium-sized dog to age 11: $6,400.

*Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair.

*The world's youngest parents were age 8 and 9 and lived in China in 1910.

*Honey is the only food that doesn't spoil.

*What trivia fact about Mel Blanc (voice of Bugs Bunny) is the most ironic? He was allergic to carrots.

* 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321.

Oh yeah, here's one for all you ladies out there. I don't know if it's true or not, but someone told me that the average woman eats 2 pounds of lipstick per year!

not a fact just something I have observed...if a guy and a girl watch a movie together..the lights are out and a blanket is nearby...they will hookup...this used to be a theory of a friend of mine but i didnt believe it..it is however true in my experience..if u are single, try it and let me know.. I can no longer test my theory, i now have a bf...

I learned this from Trivial Pursuit: EVERY human dies from the same thing! Lack of oxygen to the brain. No matter what happens to you, the reason your body actually dies is because your brain no longer gets oxygen and cannot keep the rest of the body going.

Although everyone knows the Secret Service guards the President, they usually don't know that the official job of the Secret Service is to guard currency. They are employees of the treasury department.

Other random musings...

The children's song 'Ring around the Rosy' is about the Plague.

George S. Patton competed in the 1912 Olympics in Modern Pentathalon. He placed 5th in the individual overall and did not place at all in the sabre portion of the competition.

I doubt this is completely true but maybe for some people. (I read it in a magazine):

On average, guys think about sex every 30 seconds while girls think about sex every 7 minutes. Crazy!

there are a lot of stupid facts at www.dumblaws.com

an example: in Chicago (if i remember correctly) it is illegal to eat in a restaurant that's on fire.

Also, what is the most common first name in the world? If you guess "mike" or "jenny" it is actually Mohammed, because Islam is the most widespread religion in the world.

What is the most popular last name? Wang (my geography teacher Dr.Wang said this of course)...because China has the biggest population in the world.

Who is the most famous geographer? Michael Jordan. (he majored in that field.)
