Falling overboard --- another one of many reasons I would never go on a cruise.

Cruises are great.
You have to do something really dumb to fall overboard.

banditone - I always thought I would HATE going on a cruise. But I had to go on a Disney cruise with hubby - and loved it. So never say never!
Gotta say - you would have to work hard to fall off the Disney Cruise ships especially - since they are designed to be pretty kid-proof.

WEll, it seems I read a story about one of the following dealing with cruise ships at least once a month:
- So and so fell overboard inthe middle of the night... Lost at sea.
or
- Pirates boarded so and so cruise ship.

You really have to be drunk and stupid to fall off a cruise ship. The best way to avoid it would be to get a cabin without a balcony (it'll be cheaper too) Then at least you'll have to fall off in public...

The only thing I've ever seen about pirates and cruise ships was off the coast of Somalia a couple of years ago. The pirates, however, never got on board if I remember correctly.
On the other hand, people do fall off cruise ships all the time, but if you look at it in relation to how many people take cruises each year I'm sure its something like 0.0000001%

Both points bear repeating.
Let me just say, having returned from Acapulco today, that cruises are a great way to visit Mexico without having to eat there.

The whole "falling off a cruise ship" thing seems to be pretty recent - I don't recall many stories about it before, but can now think of 3 recent ones. Hmmm . . . maybe they are making the drinks stronger now!
I really don't understand the re-enacting of the Titanic thing. Did they not watch the movie until the end?? Don't they know the conclusion?
As to pirates, I remember that one story about them - but wasn't it in an area known for that? Somewhere in Asia, I believe - am fuzzy on it.
The only pirates I saw were Jack Sparrow at Castaway Cay (! - the actor really did look like him!) and the deck party. While you could make a case for the overpriced drinks at the party being a form of piracy, other than that - pretty harmless.

So apparently the dude who fell over is an AFA cadet and he may face disciplinary action pending the investigation.

Some people say they were re-enacting the Titanic scene, and some are calling the guy a hero for saving her.
Either way, passengers were a lot pissed off because they screwed everything up.
