Fraturnaty/Sorority NickNames
Which fraternities give out Nicknames to their new inducted members?? (EX like in Animal house) My Fraternity has been doing this for years, but after asking my friend from back at home who happens to be in the same frat, but at another school he told me they didn't give out nick names. It looks like I’ll be taking on a pledge for my little brother for the first time and I also would like some suggestions on really good names to help me come up with a really good name for who ever becomes my pledge.
Do any other frats/sororities give out nicknames, and what is yours??
My name is Roots BTW.

I think this is a joke, but.....
Is "Fraturnaty" a nickname for "fraternity?"
Many GLOs give out "nicknames" but they are referred to as pledge names or line names, etc.
If this is supposedly a chapter tradition already, you should be able to talk to your chapter brothers about suggestions and find out how you all usually assign names. We don't know your chapter, the upcoming pledges, etc.

Thats all fine and good, and actually I've come up with many ideas, but my question was "what fraternities give out nicknames to their new inducted members? What is your nickname??

Good.
You asked the question after stating "I also would like some suggestions on really good names to help me come up with a really good name for who ever becomes my pledge." So, my comments stand.

My chapter did nick names for our "families." For instance, my family is called the "Peeps" family (named for those sweet Easter candies and the way an alum laughed--she made a "peep" noise). We even took it a step further and did individual names, which I prefer not to mention. Haha. At one point, all of the sisters even wrote cheers for each other that described us--some were really good, but some were pretty embarassing and I wouldn't want people other than my good friends to hear mine. EVER.

I never understood the whole family thing, seems dumb to have little "clans" inside your organization.

nicknames
A few years ago we had one guy who we really wanted and some guy we were taking a chance on as a package deal because the two were best friends. So we called them Steve and Steve's friend respectively.

I haven't heard any of those before, but I'm assuming you also know the one I do hear.

In OPA, we don't name the pledge class until initiation. The class is named based off the number of girls they had (eg. my pledge class was "9 Dancing Ladies"), and every girl is named off of that theme (eg. in my pledge class, we were all named after dances). The names don't really get used, especially since you're already a sister by the time you learn your own, but it's a cute thing for us to add to Rose Night.

Snort Absolutely Everything, any truth to that? :P
I liked space dock conception. My step brother joined after I did, so we named him obviously adopted.
