It was a pahellenic agreement. I believe that it falls under 'if a chapter returns in X months rule' from NPC but I am unsure.

I don't know the answer to your other questions as I am not involved in the colonization...sorry.

There are definitely a few people on this board who would know better than me, but I believe that if you recolonize within 18 months of closing, you do not need the approval of Panhellenic.

Sorry if I had more information on the situation I would have known what quota was at UNC.

I am feeling like you are not happy to have Alpha Phi return

Agreements as to when and how an NPC chapter returns.

When a chapter closes for whatever reason, there is usually a desire to return. The (inter)national officers, the Collegiate Panhellenic Association (and their advisers or NPC Delegates), and the university administration work together to see if that is possible. An agreement maybe worked out that the group can recolonize quickly or that they will return in 8 years. (The one year – 18 months is a suggestion.) Other things thrown in can be in relation to recruitment numbers, housing and so on. The agreement in a sense holds a spot for the organization. It’s akin to a campus open for multiple expansion in 2005 - ABC colonizes in 2006, LMN in 2009, and XYZ in 2012. There will not be votes additional votes regarding LMN or XYZ can come or not. That was already decided in 2005 if the agreement didn’t specify additional voting was necessary.

Some people like it and some don’t.

According to the panhellenic minutes posted on the UNCW website, each chapter did vote on the return of Alpha Phi- I believe only one chapter opposed the return but the rest voted for it.
