Thumbs up Rush support from Mom!!

Recruitment started today and I am an anxious mom. Will my daughter be able to assess the group fairly, will they really "see" her in the short interview time? I totally support her decision to enter greek life and hope it goes well for her.

We have lined up the recs and pressed the outfits. Now it is up to her and all I can say is "Godspeed and I love you". I'll be there on the other end of the phone, just got my first day call and report - all good and honest feedback as expected. She is wishing she had worn her favorite outfit tomorrow - ever been thru this, moms? Remind me, someone, that the person is more important than the outfit! I already know that is true but for the young girl going through rush, you gain confidence when they comment on how cute an outfit is or how memorable a piece of jewelry may be.

Here we go!!!

Good luck...I'm sure she looked great! As long as she feels good in whatever she wears...it will show.

Well, we just had our typical Tallahassee afternoon downpour - should make things nice and steamy for the PNMs this afternoon.

Good luck to your daughter!

Sure hope NoleDaughter remembered that umbrella!! I have been thinking about her constantly today and wondering which houses she liked the most and why. I know I'll hear about it all at some point tonight.

After today's visits I understand that the first decisions will be made to narrow the field. I'm not sure when or how she finds out about the invitations to come back.

Seems to me that the girls go back in the a.m. and are given their return invites. You'd think I could remember things that just happened two years ago, wouldn't you? I also remember them going to a computer on their own but don't remember if that was to see their invites or to do their own rankings.

mom, i would guess that the nervous, awkward rushers were first timers on the sorority side, but it could also be that they are girls who are just more shy. i am glad to hear that daughter is enjoying herself and that she is sharing her story with you. i hope that things go well for her!! best wishes!

Here's the latest...

NoleD a great day, a fun day, a very long day - no mention that it rained or was even hot, so I didn't mention it either! Obviously it was not an issue or she was so excited and interested that it didn't matter. She visited seven more houses today completing the 15 first round visits.

She did go to the computers tonight and designate the three she liked the least based on the first round of visits. It was not so hard for her to name those three but really liked so many of the others it would be hard to narrow it down beyond that - she's so glad she didn't have to do that yet. Now she will wait for the invite list tomorrow and can get invited back to a maximum of 12. She has the next two days to revisit that invite list.

She got some questions today that she wasn't sure she answered so well and that worried her some after having enjoyed conversations with others in those houses so much. I think maybe she was getting tired and not thinking so well on her feet. Usually she can answer a question well right away. On the other hand, she had some very fun and memorable conversations today that just "flowed" effortlessly. She felt very comfortable and enjoyed talking with those girls. Some meetings she felt as if conversations were somewhat forced, just not easy. Her RhoGam was very nice and helpful, the girls in her group all got along well and they are all trying to guess to which house the RhoGam belongs. Tomorrow each is on her own to visit the houses on her respective invite list.

She is hoping to have the chance to revisit as many as possible so she can meet more girls and learn more about each house she likes. She has a good attitude and I am proud of the way she is going through the process.

I sure hope it turns out well everybody - send your good vibes out for NoleDaughter as she (and I) wait to see what happens next!
