Your First Car

What kind of car did you have first?

This was my car in high school, except in black.

This was my car in college -- again in black.

1987 Buick Century station wagon, powder blue. My parents had gotten a new car, so they gave me the old family one. It lasted until the summer after my freshman year of college, when it died at a red light.

Heh, my first car was a 1990 Buick Century named Betty. She was maroon outside, with maroon interior and a tape deck. She was a damn good car. RIP.

Remember the Adam Sandler song about his car... That was my first car... a 1995 Saturn SL1. How I hated it.

I had an '89 Buick Century in tan but it looked just like this - it lasted me all through college.

My first car was a 1982 Datsun 200sx which was a hand-me-down from my dad. A lot like this one except mine was red:

Then for college I had a 1993 Toyota Tercel, except mine didn't have that bar on the front (or the dents):

We called it the turtle It sadly met it's demise with someone who thought they could cross 4 lanes of traffic before I got there - they almost made it...

My first car was a 1980 Mazda RX-7. I bought it for $500 in 1994. It was a fun car to drive until I ran it out of oil.

My first car was a 198-something maroon Plymouth Turismo. My dad bought it used and rebuilt the engine. When he told me what it was I was like "A WHAT? What's a Turismo?" I drove that for a year and then my dad decided that it wasn't safe for me (the engine never did run reliably) so he got me a tan Toyotal Corolla 4 door. He bought it with 70,000 miles on it, put a newer engine in it (cause that one was about to "throw a rod", according to him), and I managed to put well over 100,000 miles on it. Man, there's some great memories I had with that car!!!

I kept it all through college and sold it my first year of grad school and bought a brand new Saturn SC2. I LOVED that car, then someone decided to T bone me in the drivers side...I guess she thought that red light in her turning lane overrode my green light. She totalled my car...bent the frame. Damn her!

After a year in a a 2001 Focus, I am now in a 2003 Saturn VUE and love it!

And that's my car story!

DA, those cars are TOO cute.

I had a Ford Escort station wagon. I'm not kidding, unfortunately. WTF.

A 1984 Red Tempo (it was 1992 when I got it). Sort of like this, but mine was a bit more burgandy:

I loved it. We used to sing to is "Little Red Tempo, Baby you're not too fast"

HAHA, I had a Tempo but it was an '87 and it was powder blue. "The little blue wonder" as we called it because whenever you got it, you always wondered if it would start or not!

Speaking of, what the heck was up with the powder blue back then? Everyone had a freaking powder blue car.

I don't know, but my buddies had a good time making fun of me about it. After baseball practice one day, I came out and found they'd taped a "Grandma's Parking Only" sign on my back window.

Mine was a kickass '88 Chevy Beretta 5-speed that both my sisters drove before I got it in 1994.

I drove it all through my freshman year of high school (loved having a school permit which allowed me to drive at 14) until I ran it out of oil the next summer. After that I got my grandparents' '82 grey Buick Century.
