In stressful situations what are your coping mechanisms?

It depends on the situation. I am not one to get stressed easily...hence, too blessed to be stressed(AND I KNOW THIS!!!!!) But on the rare occasion that a situation might be a bit sticky, I write. I believe many of the answers, when prayed upon and meditated over are revealed. For me writing is a way for me to discover the answer. I have been keeping a journal for 13 years. What a bizarre personal retrospective.

a bath...some incense...music...or i sing until i feel like passing out... in the heat of the moment though i usually hold my tongue...because when i don't...i speak the truth...and it usually exacerbates the situation more...when the other party cannot handle the truth...

I agree with journaling. I have kept one on and off and it is definetly a big help. And talking to people about whatever is bothering me also helps. My new thing is to try some anti-stress exercises. Simple breathing techniques and stretching to loosen up my muscles.

Being the extrovert that I am, I also enjoy talking out my problems, be it with my "Higher Power", family and/or friends. Usually they provide me with a different way of looking at the situation. This is not to say that I am easily swayed by others; however, I do know that there is more than one to look at a situation. Feedback usually allows me to make a more informed decision considering several different factors. As we know, it is not necessarily the situation, but our perspective of the situation that determines how we will deal with it.

Well, I always say my little prayer. It's only four words " Lord, give me strength!"
with a combination of other things, like watch lifetime Tv, take an extremely long walk, ( at least 2 or 3 hours), have "me" time or my favorite SLEEP!
