Lettermen

Has anyone heard of this group before? Apperently they recorded some TKE songs back in the day. I have one of them, "We've spoken together". If anyone wants it PM me with your email and I can send it to you.

Regardless...if anyone knows where I can find some more songs by them or if there are any recordings still around...please let me know.

songs

I am so shocked at our lack of knowledge of TKE songs and TKE
songsters. There are so many of them out there and somewhere
along the way HQ forgot...
perhaps they were replaced by the TKE chants, one of the most
repulsive things that we still tolerate.
The TKE songs by the Lettermen were great, and we have issued
at least two Teke songbooks.
You might check into them and find them more tasteful than the
vomit we produce today.

when I was a pledge, I learned the proper tune to the Sweetheart's Song by downloading The Lettermen version mp3

Lawrence Welk

Welk, who had fraters Myron Floren and Buddy Merrill aboard,
would play the TKE sweetheart song each spring, I think either
on Valentine's or Mothers' Day.
I heard it on radio and he may have done it on TV. He looked very kindly on the Fraternity and Floren was a frequent $ contributor to Beta Sigma (S. Cal).
Ted Fio Rito, an old-old timer, did some TKE songs with his band.
Sigma Chi tops them all with recordings and a movie. Pike and Sigma Nu songs have been done and I am sure a great number
of others have been of limited distribution such as SAE's lovely
"Violets." It is said, I cannot prove, "Harbor Lights" was originally
a TKE song and we know it as "Dream Girl of TKE" Finally, Don
Cherry, The Four Freshmen and The Four Lads all sang TKE songs
but I do not think any were waxed.

I've got on my computer The Letterman performing The Sweetheart Song, as well as the closing formal chapter/initiation song. "As fraters in the bond, we pledge our loyalty..." it's found in the Teke guide.

If there's an urge for them, I'm sure I could find a place to post them online for anyone
