Check out Shure's E Series headphones. Pricey, but high quality.

Noise cancelling headphones. Shoudn't that be a contridiction of terms? What good are headphones if they cancel all the noise?

Just kidding. I don't have a real answer for you.

The term just struck me as funny.

HBADPi, I'll check at my house tomorrow. I have a really good headset for when I go target shooting, especially since I already have one broken eardrum.

Size is important too, though - they need to be snug on the ENTIRE ear opening, and well cushioned around them. I've seen guys on Bobcats & such with the bud ones, but they're not worth the money you put into them, IMHO, if the reason is to protect your hearing.

There was an article on Yahoo about this yesterday, but I didn't read it. I'll see if I can still find it.

I think she means the kind that blocks out sound so you hear nothing but your music. Not the protective kind.

You don't need them to cover your entire ear. That's why the Shure ones are good. Plus anything that provides a Cancelling effect introduced something new to the sound which isn't great. Nobody wants to lug around a giant headset on a plane either and that's what a lot of people use these for.
