Bye Bye hall of fame. People were debating if he should make it before this should kill his chances now. He testified to congress he didn't take them as well. He could be found in contempt of congress probably.

"never knowingly" had 'roids in his body...eh?
What happened the steroid fairy sneak in his room at night and leave him a gift under his skin while he was sleeping?

We'll see - this is huge, no doubt about that. I'm actually shocked. I would wait before saying that this is the death knell for him in the HOF.
Also - there was debate before, but remember that it takes 75% for induction, not 100%. Again, we'll have to wait and see.

In light of all these MLB players lying about their steroid usage, I actually find Juicy's candor somewhat refreshing

"all these"? "candor"?
The only thing we can even venture to say might be true would be that Palmeiro used steroids while Canseco was with the Rangers.
The only other individual who has been verified to use steroids, and was also mentioned in the Canseco book, was Giambi - who later issued an (admittedly bizarre) apology and denied Canseco's version of events (a version which is also incompatible with both his and Greg Anderson's testimony to the sealed Grand Jury).
Even with this, Canseco is still a douche.

I never said he wasn't a douche, I was just commenting on his relative honesty regarding the steroids

Since I'm from md there has been so much coverage on this. They were saying on the radio today that there are so many things that register as steriods during drug testing. I know when I had pneumonia I was given anti-biotics that had steriods in it. They were saying that this could have happened to him. I still think its his fault because he didnt take the time--if he says it was unintentional--to consult the team doctor on whether or not this would show up on drug tests. It sucks for the Orioles who were doing so well, but if you break the rules you gotta pay the price.

For what it's worth, 'steroid testing' requires numbers far above what would be present through localized use of corticosteroids or other such medicinal applications - typical load of (anabolic) steroids delivered for bodybuilding purposes would be 25x to 100x the amount found in medicinal use of corticosteroids.
When you add this to the recent report that Raffy's sample contained Winstrol (which is a commercial form of stanzolol), which is not something you would find in any sort of antibiotic or topical cream. It would be just shy of impossible to ingest this and not know it was a steroid, and it is not found in supplements.
Raffy's a lying piece of crap - just like Canseco, but with better numbers (and without the 80s haircut).

I don't know - I think when you're close to someone, or when someone is a former employee who did good work for you for a number of years, you never want to believe that the person was cheating/lying/breaking the rules.
That said - the new info that he tested positive for stanzolol puts serious holes in his story. That is one strong steroid, one I don't think can be found in your run-of-the-mill supplements.

Taking the opinions of sportswriters too seriously can be dangerous sometimes, especially immediately following a big event. However, I think it speaks volumes that Peter Gammons, at the end of this column, pretty much acknowledges that he doesn't think Palmeiro should be allowed in the HOF.

Another twist to the story; also, Baltimore manager Sam Perlozzo has said that if Raffy really did blame a teammate, he should stay away from the team for the rest of the season.
The happiest guy in all of this has to be Barry Bonds. He can keep giving obnoxious interviews and not take the bulk (no pun intended) of the steroid accusations.

He blamed Tejada for giving him the stuff. That's pretty weak.
I hope his career is over.
