Thumbs up LXA 50th General Assembly/ GreekChat Brothers Rememberences.

First off since I am one of the first Brothers Home!!!!!

G C LXA Brothers you can place your Thoughts on this Thread!:
I will give mine first as I am LX Zeta # 1, One of the Co-Mods, and am so damn tired from working our butts off---But having one Great Time!!)

For those of you who have not or were not at G A. Damn, it aint just fun in the sun!Stared . off at Airport. Waiting for Jono to get in and then finding my luggage.

Find Brothers from Tex. and Cal. riding to Hotel and spliting a $20.50 cab ride.

Both Jono and Tom dont like Height, You guessed it, we were on the 20 th floor, oh, there are only 20 except for the revolving bar one floor up.. I did not make it there!

Meeting Boz for the first time. Bulletine Board did not get put up but being LXA GCers we or Boz worked it out.

Finding that Jono and I were placed in single rooms when requested we were in same, both smoke, He brought the Schotch for medicinal purpose only. We go that changed!!!!
Off to lunch after Checked in I think and then checked in!
Alums of which many of us are went to a room where Alum Delegates were selected- 18 out of all of the Alums that were there! I have never ment any of the GC Chaters except Jono and EM1843. If you have talked on the phone as I have with many GC LXAers, Voice behind me, Da was LIFESAVER! Our First Face off! JoinerLXA Sat Next to me and Jono on the other side!!!!

LX Zeta # 82 who I had not seen in 30 some years was there and got what a homecoming that was---High Pi from UNLV!

Brothers Tom Earp, lifesaver, Mike Raymond(more later on this Brother) were elected to the Alum Delegates.

It seemed, that all of us signed up for the same Committee That for review of Colonie Status, as IN New current Colonies.

So our first assingnment was Colony status and met immediately.

One Colony was in absence, and some of the Members were very upset. We ended up having a 3 rd meeting as found up IHQ? Colony Pres. messed up.

I said, if we can get them there, lets find out what happened.!

Found out and did not realize until look at GC Sign up Sheet, that one of the delegates was Our Josh V- crmdogg03!!!!!

Josh and I talked many times after that!
Another Hot Seat Colony was NC A & T!

GCER Chris Lo!?? Am fading fast! Oh,agielxaI fought for them and talked to the gentlemen that were there and Their H Pi.

I fought for Brother Colonies and they were given a years chance to do good things. For us who have met the Brothers now, we have faith in them to Become Great LXA Zetas.

I want to say the GC Brothers were Fantastic with this!

List of GC LXA, Not all got signed up: Some who we met were there and we did not get hooked up for Pix.

EM1843-IRT, saw Matt in passing after Food Breaks and they went back to practice. Matt A+++++++!

Boz, great job!

Mike Raymond- New Order of Merit! reciepient!!

(I met Mike) and He lurks GC as many of a lot of people cannot get logged on for some reason we will try to get that straighten out sooonn hopefully!!!! davelu-99. Legislative session, what a pain in the ass and lifesaver I were complaining about him ss we were sitting together, Dave Barrowed one of my sport coats as left his home!

Lynn C- He told some Actives that I was talking to about GC and walked up and said, Oh, I lurk GC and find that Tom and many of the LXA Posters give a true picture of Greeklife and what they feel about the good and bad of LXA. It is a Great Site for LXA

and getting true feeling about Greeks in general.

While some of the Brothers were signed up, they did not hear the message about GreekChaters meeting for a pix sesion because of time constraints.

On the other side of the coin, I ment some I did not know were G C Brothers, Other Brothers met other GC Brothers that I did not meet!

Spending a weekend at Gen. Assemb. with lifesaver about killed me! But, Life Was Good!

While Jono and I had great entorations of getting to bed early, Mike R was up the first night. @2.00AM

Seconded Night was Bud Pierce, another @ 2.00AM.

Third and last Night, lifesaver and Jono and I had not been able to sit and have a cocktail together--- Guess what, lifesaver, and then had his two young Colony members up, with all good intentions of going to bed early, Friggen Hell+ @ 3:30!

In talking with many of the GC LXA that we stumbled across each other, while it was a killer for work from 7:00 AM till ???? it was one of the hardes times on a mature Brother, but one of the most rewaeding for me to meet so many!

Not to step on TOES, But lifesaver and his cell phone was worse than all of my typos.
Jono while we were roommates, has some great stories and we saw each other in passing many times and could kick back in room when we got there!

Jono, got to tell the Chipster and JB Stories, subtle remeinder, as your I do not want to be the only one to know your Great Stories!!! ??? Dont foret Spencer and Illy and Lex part!
For all of the Other GCers, I am sure each has your own!

While it is fun, it is hard work!

While it is hard work, it was fun!

Faces to names and find out what Some GCers do in real life and see the faces of The names!

Finding Brothers who we never ment until this weekend and did not know who they were brought a whole lot of us closer together as Brohters of LXA!

Hot Damn, what a Great Bunch of LXA GCers We Have On Sit!

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound!!!

Tour of IHQ should be added by someone who went besides me!

PS:

I met George S for the first time since 1969 and we talked several or more times!

"What a Great Gentleman and Brother."

Oh, an after thought, I could not beleive there were so many people who came up to me and said I have heard aboud you and wanted to meet you! I mean some Yazoos of LXA! Many of the Muckity Brothers found me and, for someone like me who likes to keep a low profile, it is somewhat discerning!

Lifesaver no stuff from you BRO, as I was with you most of whole time!

This has to be a record all time GC gathering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Results of GA Legislation

I don't recall ever seeing such a large package of proposed GA legislation before. Something like 19 proposals. My delegate does not remember the results. Could someone share with me the results, particularly the ones on (1) accepting JC students, (2) the change to allow out-of-US/Canada chapters, (3) High ALpha veto, (4) the ones related to the Council of Presidents.

ok, i can help out on some of those to the best of my memory, someone can correct me if i am wrong, but i was on the comittee that discussed allowing out of us/canada expansion, we recomended that it be allowed, the GA accepted this,
for the jc college, we reccomended this be referred back to the ghz, and the GA accepted this,
i no for certain that the high alpha veto power was denied
i am not exactly certain what happend with the council of presidents, but there was much discussion over this in the GA, was discussed for around an hour i believe.
to the best of my recolection, it was approved for the statutory code, but not the constitution
-Josh
also i could discuss in detail if anyone would like the discussion of my comitte (constitution #3) in regards to the legislation we recommended/did not recommend

I don't know what Committee #3 looked at, so please share it with those of us who could not attend.

PS: The next time GA comes around, perhaps we need a dispensation to increase your travel allowance - I know that ANC is more than $300 from IND.

Perhaps we can go to Seattle?

lol, yeah my ticket was 700$, to attend the GA was well worth this though,
my comitte discussed bills 13-17, which were the bills about limiting expansion to US-Canada, expanding to JC's and community colleges, allowing associate members to hold zeta offices, and to provide the grand high zeta to have protection over intellectual property

Heard it was a good time, and the motions I wanted passed got passed, while the ones I didn't got defeated... though I was divided on the International (well more international) motion though.

All in all I have to say I'm happy about the 20 min. motion getting defeated, Canada's chapters would have been in rough(er) shape with that one - the average chapter size is around 18-22 up here.

Heard someone from GC ran into Brad from Toronto... asking him if he was R A Cooper's little bro

From the word I have gotten I think there needs to be a Canadian iniative to increase numbers (size and chapters) as well as re-forge some links...

Hope you all had a blast

Thumbs up GA in Canada?

It is an idea whose time has come - or come again (Don't know if we've been to the Great White North in the past). We did go to the Bahamas back in the sixties, I think. I heard that was because of a hiccup in the money that came from Canada via donation - had to go back to Canada or a Commonwealth country. Way before my time.

A GA in Vancouver or Victoria would be a blast. Montreal would be easy to get to as would Toronto. I'm up for it.

GA hasn't been held in Toronto (or Canada as far as I know) for many many decades...

It would be cheap(er), and easy to do... but it would need the support of IHQ. I for one would love to see it... and save the long drives south.

Smile

God could anyone tell I was totally beat when I typoed the first post!

Slept in recliner it seemed like more hours than I had at G A !

Coop, That was Me Bro!!!!!! Told you I would and I even remembered!

John, 20 man was tabled indef.
Wheeeeeee!!!
Junior Colleges same.

Tobacco Ban same. Was great when Jeff from Central Mo. got up with a dip in lip moved to table indef.. Could have run over and give him a big hug! Oh, Jeff was the one that the pit bull was scaring and did shannia Twain dance!

Out of USA and Canada, I beleive was refered back to G H Z.

God, it is so hard to remember everything as everyone was getting mush headed and glazed eyed.

Dave glad I could be of help!! Thanks for working with Josh. At least you brought my jacket back, hell, it looked better on you than me! LOL!

I had several chats with him also. Especially since I found out he was the one presenting for Alaska in my Commitee! Fought like hell to get them an extension! I won!

The same goes for Chris Lo who while not even a Assoc yet paid his own way up from NC A & T! oh, aggielxa, by the way!

John, wish you could have been there! So many points of legislation were amended, re-amended and etc. God, that crap is insane. All lawyers should have mouths ducked taped!

I am still dumbfounded of the people that knew of me, being the quiet self unasumming type that I am.

I was so and still am so punchy, I emailed Kip thanking him for the job he did and told him that Bob Arnold wanted me to sign up for a INT commette. Wasnt bad, except, Bobs Last name is Alexander!!!!! Hell, He chaired the commettee I was on along with John Otten!

Well as I remember things, I will try to add them.

All I can say is "Hot Damn" what a great time!!!!!

One of the things that lifesaver and I discussed between us was the regional Conclaves. Everything is getting streamed lined and now we seem to be forgetting the fact that Zetas from different parts of the country dont know what other parts are doing. While we are Brothers, there are differnt things that are indigneious to an area.

I hope this makes a little more sense than my first post, but guess I will find out when I read it tomarrow. There is always tomarrow!

IN ZAX,

Regional conclaves, and duct tape

Dumping the regional conclaves was dumb as dirt. I really believe that we need to rethink that decision.

With respect to lawyers and duct tape, I remain, your brother, Calif State Bar # 144,008; Washington DC Bar # 432,011.

oh yeah that by far was an incredible moment about the tobacco debate. Jeff and I had become chewing buddies over the week in impact leadership and throughout the GA as we found out it was hard to find a place to buy a chew anyplace close to the hotel, and only saw about 2 other brothers chewing the whole time we were there. I actually gave Jeff the dip he had in when he stood up to speak so i knew it was coming and elerted Tom sitting behind me, deffinantly had an impact with his dip in and all.

I have posted a legislative post-op on the legislation thread.

It was cool getting to meet everyone.

Josh, you were scared shitless and you got shafted on the notification thing. I let staff know that they dropped the ball. Obvioulsy your info helped to keep you open, (I was on the committee with Earp as well) but your passion for the fraternity spoke volumes. You were closed in our eyes until you came in and presented. I dont know who tracked you down and asked you why you didnt show up, but you owe them your existance. Once we found out that you didnt know, we gave up our free time to hear you guys. I am very glad we did. With soem hard work (and recruitment) up there, you guys should charter in a year, if not less. It was cool to meet you tho.

It was a hoot to meet Earp and sit at the back of the room and keep him on track and up to date on the legislation. He is truely full of Piss & Vinegar. Enjoied the drink and just wouldda wished we had more time to hang out. We did make him an honary Texan by inviting him to sit with the Texas boys at the final banquet.

Am still tired as hell. Got a bit weather delayed in Chicago and didnt get home till about 11pm.

It was awesome spending time with Doc Draghali... again. Am amaized just being in his presence.

It was cool to reconnect with people I havent seen in 10 years. One guy I was a delegate with 10 years ago in Indy in 94 was now a presenter and is the greek life director at MIT. I remember Frank as being a skinny ass shy 21 year old. Now hes all grown up. I had always wondered what happened to him.

Who knew Marty Smiths daughter was that hot, lol.

Rob Walker got me to talk to Dan Dougherty (just a good old boy, lol) and it looks like I'll be becoming an IMPACT coach this fall/spring. Cool. Also spoke with Ed Leonard about getting on his GHZ committee regarding recruitment. Am looking forward to getting more involved at the GF level.

So super proud of the job Shane is doing up there. Damn that kid has come a long way.

Its so wierd how many people I now know in the fraternity or ya knwo someone who knows someone in your chapter. So cool.

Got a HUGE compliment from Roger Lalli (sp) High Pi at OU. Hes a great guy and it made me feel great.

Tom & Bill Foltz did lots of PR for GC, so maybe we'll get a bounce out of it on here.

oh yeah scared shitless is putting it mildly. I do owe my colonies existance to specifically john ottum, who tracked me down, but to your whole comittee for giving me and the rest of my fellow brothers and associate members up here in alaska a chance to become charterd. I was very nervous, trying to sum up the entire operations of our fraternity very very unprepared, trying to explain why we had not become a chapter after over three years when i have only been in the fraternity for one academic year so could only use secondhand info as to what exactly the first two years of our existance , but tried my best to give a sum up of what was going on up in alaska, and answer all of the comittees questions.

And i will agree that Marty Smiths daughters were very good looking indeed, i had the privledge of escorting one of them on and off stage during our choir performance.

Being on the choir was incredible, learning all the songs and being able to preform and have the crowd performing so enthusastically made me feel a great sense of brotherhood.
I intend to make songs apart of our colony up here, which has never been done in the past.

Maybe a good idea would be to start up a yahoo picture account or some other picturesharing website were we could post all of our pictures from the GA, i know i have a bunch and its always nice to connect names with faces.
-Josh
