Mother's Day ideas

So I need to get something for my mom and my mother-in-law. They both live across the country. I am looking for ideas beyond just ordering flowers. Help!

Oh yeah, and 40 dollars or so is a good price range for each (on a budget).

For your mom - have you gotten her a mother's pin for your sorority yet (if they have them?)?

This is what I'm getting my mom, she really likes the birthstone-family things but never wears rings.

For those that don't want to go to the link, it's a pendant with a tree that has birthstones on it for all the members of your family...sorry it's a bad explanation (just go to the picture)

my mom is super sun sensitive and burns like crazy. we are going to hawaii this summer and she has mentioned how drug store sunscreens she buys are always too greasy and gross. So i went to the clinique counter and got her a sunscreen gift set. It comes with a little beach bag, makeup bag, sunscreen for the body and face (seperate products), after sun lotion, and a lip gloss. It was a really good price too.

One thing I would highly suggest, especially if you can do it sincerely, is write how much she means to you, the lessons you've learned from her, her wisdom, etc. Then enclose a gift card to a restaurant that she likes.

I did this for my daddy two Father's Days ago, and he cried. Two months later, he suddenly died. I am SO GLAD that I wrote that letter when I did!!

I'm writing something like honeychile suggested- a list of 25 (or whatever number it ends up being) reasons why she's the cutest, best mom. Since I'm moving, I'm going to be broke, so I can't really buy her anything else (usually get her nice jewelry) but my sister and I did get her a really nice jewelry box since she saw one she really liked and needed.

I bought my mommy the first season of Sex & the City on DVD and the first season of In Living Color on DVD. She called me today and said she loved it.

As a mom, what I would want most is a gift certificate for a massage, pedicure and/or manicure.

I will get home made (school made) cards and gifts from my grade school kids, which are a treasure too!
