Beatlemania began 40 years ago today

I wasn't alive then, but I bet it was amazing to have been at the airport when they arrived!

Wow, the top ticket price was $5.50! Crazy. I'm interested to see the tribute to them on the Grammys.

I've got the DVD of the four Ed Sullivan Beatles shows... well worth the price of admission in glorious black and white (color TV wasn't all over the place yet); even more fun are the vintage TV commercials in the show!

Well, I WAS alive when it all started!! I clearly remember watching them for the first time on Ed Sullivan. Think I may have to invest in those DVDs - that would be cool to see it all over again. I also saw them LIVE in Dallas in about 1965. Now THAT was a concert!!!

Missed it by THAT much! I wasn't born until the following year. I do remember the moon landings, though!

The DVD set runs about $30, but you can pick 'em up for as little as $15-20 in Sam's Club or Costco.

Ahhh... we'll forgive the Seattle Museum of Flight for putting the Beatles on the Concorde - they actually flew into New York on a Pan Am Boeing 707, reportedly renamed 'Jet Clipper Beatles' for the trip. (Concorde was five years away from its first flight and 11 years from commercial service!)

My mom got the Ed Sullivan DVD for my dad the other day.. we were watching it commenting on the commercials as well. I think that it would be more entertaining to see commercials like that on during the superbowl than some of the others I saw.

My dad saw them in concert as well. I am always jealous of all the great concerts my parents have gone to.. and there is a long list of them..
