Planning the wedding

How do you all feel about a man planning his wedding?

I think it takes some of the pressure off! Most men like to take charge, and don't like to feel pushed. Letting him plan the wedding gives him the control he wants, and lets the woman KNOW that this is what he wants and WHEN he wants! They are less likely to stall... maybe...

I think I just like the idea because I am lazy when it comes to stuff like that.

Magic Johnson planned his...

Magic planned his wedding and Cookie said he did a great job. Well, maybe it is because she had planned two and was tired of him leaving her at the alter. Anywho...I was reading an article about brides that put their wedding planner through pure hell and this guy did not like what the planner had in mind, so he fired her and planned the wedding his way. He built an alter and if I remember correctly, he darn near built everything and decorated it also. When I saw the pictures, he got my approval.

I think that is a great idea. I have seen so many brides go through soooo much planning a wedding and what does the groom to...pick out the tux, call his homeboys, and stand at the alter.

As long as the bride isn't really picky and actually lets the groom plan, it's a great idea.

Usually, the bride is the one who has all the ideas of what she wants and has to have. That's why it just makes sense for her to do most of the planning so that she isn't disappointed. Not as many guys are as particular with every little detail.

I planned my wedding for the most part and I don't think I would have done it any other way.

Red face

I think if the bride wants nothing to say about go for it. A soror whose wedding I am the matron of honor in next September had probs with her boyfriend disaggreeing, he had ALOT to say! My husband just basically showed up, I would ask his opinion on a few things and most of the time he didn't care. If its gonna be a mother, a daughter and a guy with different visions, stick to just the bride!

No experience in this area...

Basically, my husband said to just tell him the date and time .

I recently saw a show about "groomzillas"; if I can find a link I will post it.

When my husband and I decided to elope, my husband set the whole thing up and I just needed to show up--didn't need a dress, didn't need much make-up, didn't really have to have my hair done, but I did... But all the paperwork and stuff, he set up, I just had to get it notarized and signed...

When we had our religious ceremony, we had planned to really get married in Sedona, Arizona and he put the money down to save the date and location. We were using a planner out of Sedona, Arizona and they had these packages. But the package was of poor quality and needed sprucing... There were no boutonnieres for the best man or the fathers, there were no nosegays for the mothers... I barely got by with a maid of honor bouquet (sp.?)...

Then it didn't matter if my husband and I didn't invite anyone but our families, at least my parent's friends were ready to crash the party anyway, so we had to have some sort of "dinner". And that was extra for the planner to do... My poor husband, totally clueless about these things wouldn't have done it. We'd have beer nuts and rum if it were left up to him...

But if a groom has an idea of what he wants to do and it meshes with the bride's idea, then hey... Best of luck!!! The problem comes if the ideas don't mesh... I really wanted a "Black Elvis, with the Motown Singers" at Las Vegas' "Chapel of Love"--but my husband wasn't having it... At least it would've been a wedding that EVERY ATTENDEE would remember...

The wedding that was shown on the wedding story that I was in was planned by Angie's husband. He had everything on lock. Everyone was basically like "he needs to plan my wedding." It was cute. He really had everything under control and it was beautiful.

We called him renegade groom because he was so "on it."
