Thumbs down

Hello Pi Phis...

I checked out the highest bidder so far on that auction and that person looks like he/she only cares about making a quick buck (I checked the previous auctions). As of right now it's at $51.00, and I'd hate to see this in non Pi Phi hands.

Let's hope that cotter@oaktree.net is a Pi Phi!

Thanks, y'all. I can tell by the user names that our national office has made a bid on it so I'll just hope. The booklet doesn't look familiar so I don't know what all it's got; our books didn't have any secrets in them, only blanks, because Pi Phis were supposed to hand down the secrets by word of mouth only.

AOPis had a secret manual up for bid last week and my daugher, who is her chapter's rituals chairman, is hoping hard that it didn't have anything in it.

this one is insane! $790! I hope hope hope the bidder is a pi phi, would be sad to see a pin, especially one so old (circa 1890's) go to a non pi phi.

I don't understand why anyone (unless non-Greek) would want the manual or know the secrets of another fraternity/sorority...That's so disrespectful!

I agree piphigirl. Why would any non-pi phi's be interested in this? What would you possibly have to gain by knowing this info?

I just checked out Ebay. There is a ton of Pi Phi stuff on there! There is another pin up for bid. If I had the money I'd buy it. It would be great if these items could stay in Pi Phi hands!

Ooooo, I saw that, it's exquisite. Our national office does watch ebay but I think they only step in if there's an item of historical significance. There's some name they always use when they bid--they put it in the Arrow a year ago and I've forgotten it but would recognize it and back off a bid if I saw it.

People in my chapter tended to get their birthstone in their pins--so gorgeous!

I once contacted CO about a pin on ebay and got a reply saying all they really do is try to let the family of the person know that their badge is up for sale. If they tried to bid on every pin they'd go broke! (unless...we start a donations fund specifically to purchasing pins? wonder if this would work...doubt it, since most of us can't even pay our alum dues)

I think if a Pi Phi bought the pledge pin (which would be great and I would buy it if I wasn't so poor and I didn't have to pay in US dollars), but it should be sent to Headquarters. We obviously don't know what chaoter it was from so Headquarters would be the best place to send it.

Pins for sale on Ebay

In case anyone has extra money they would like to spend on pins, check out ebay. As of 3 March 2003, there were 3 pins for sale, ranging in prices from $100 to $200+.

I would hate for these pins to be in non-Pi Phi hands.

One with emeralds and seed pearls

Well bidding has stopped on those items. I wish I had extra money to throw around.
I just hope those pins did go to Pi Phi's.
It is a shame if they did not.
