Question

Do the 'Pledge Moms'/NME etc. change per semster or per year? For us it's per year (meaning that the pledge mom for the fall would be the same for the spring pledge class). What is everyones opinion on this?

For us its every semester. We like to change things up and get to ideas and new creativity within that position. Yes it may be good for someone to do it 2 semesters for consistincey or to do something different from the previous semester. But we aslo felt that a pledge class has a special bond with thier new member educator or pledge ed. that should be with one class, that way there is no comparison or favortism etc.

For adpi it is yearly, but we run our positions by the calendar year not the school year. As a result the new member educator is has a spring class then a fall class of new members.

We keep the same New Member Educator for an entire year. I think that this way works the best because I think that some people are better suited for the job for others (usually a very warm-hearted, motherly figure), and so by only having one, you can find the best person for the job.

In my Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, the Vice President of Pledging was elected each semester, but the rest of the Executive Committee was elected annually.

In my Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, the Director of Membership Intake is elected annually, with the potential for two pledge classes in the fraternal year, though there is also potential for zero pledge classes. (Alumni Chapter)

Ours changes yearly, and we go by calendar year instead of school year.
