Question Letters and Pregnant Alumnae?

My college roommate (a Chi-O) was visiting me this weekend, and we were discussing something that seemed a little odd. I don't know if I'm just being totally over paranoid, but I'm really curious to see what y'all think.

Okay, so I'm pregnant. And, I have some Delta Gamma shirts that are big enough to cover my slowly protruding belly. They're actually pretty comfortable too! Do y'all think that this is distasteful? I'm married and everything, but I just wonder if others think that this is not a good idea while I'm preggers! I really want to know what y'all think!

I don't see anything wrong with displaying your letters proudly when pregnant! Pregnancy is a special time in a woman's life, so there isn't wrong with using your lettered shirts to cover your belly!

You're using the shirts to *COVER* your belly, and nothing's wrong with that. If you decided to use a really really tight baby tee that didn't cover anything, then...well, that's a different story.

Good luck with your bun in the oven!

If I were you, I'd go ahead and wear those shirts. It's funny because I was wondering about this same thing, and also how long it's "acceptable" to wear your letters after you graduate. I don't see anything wrong with, ahem, mature ladies wearing letters, but my older sister quit wearing her sorority shirts when she graduated. Anyway, I say just wear them.

Ditto on the wearing! Be proud you are a mother-to-be and a DG! How awesome is that!!

It's funny - I've never thought twice about wearing my letters as an alum. I thought it was weird how in some chapters the graduating seniors pass on their letters.

I wear my letters now, when i'm 30, 40, 50 and 70! I'm never giving them up!

YEAH!!! WOOHOO!!! I'm wearing one today! I'll take a picture and post it for y'all to see! My husband is in Baghdad, so I'm kind of taking a video journal of how I grow! Thanks y'all for the support! I DO wear my letters all the time, as a matter of fact, I just bought THREE NEW shirts that I found on a web site courtesy of DGMarie!

To Jill1228: I don't know the sex yet. 'It' was uncooperative at my last appointment! As soon as I know, I'm having a shirt made that either says "My lil Legacy" or "AnchorMan in Progress"...my husband would prefer it to say something like "Snake in the Oven". (He's a Sigma Nu.)

I am so glad you are wearing your letters - there's nothing wrong with being pregnant and proud! I think it will help cement the image that a sorority is for a lifetime. That's great that your hubby will be able to see how you are growing - I'm sure he wishes he could be there with you!

Yes, my husband is in the Army...he's in MP, and we're stationed out of Germany but I came home to have the baby. He's been in Iraq, apparently a mile outside of the Baghdad airport, for about three months now. Who knows how much longer he'll be gone!? I wish I was due in NINE weeks! It hasn't been much fun thus far! I've had all day morning sickness! However, it has ceased significantly since entering the fourth month. I'm not due until December 26th...I'm hoping to hold it a little longer though...being a Christmas baby is not fun!

And for those anxious to see pics...I'll have them up as soon as I finish the roll! I left the stupid adapter for my digital camera in Germany!

AJ,

I think it'g great that your wearing your letters - keep on wearing your letters unless the shirts or sweatshirts become uncomfortable to wear (like GP said...).
