I had a (ex)friend who asked me have I ever been to the gyno. I said, "no". She
said, "good". I asked, "why?". She said, "My insurance has been discontinued, can
you go the gyno and ask for some birth control pills because I need them?"
What's worse, it was implied that I needed a pelvic and rectum exam in order to
get them. BITCH PLEASE, I wouldn't do that for my own mother, what f**k
makes you think I'll do it for YOU!

boldest - If I wanted to be in a group of naked sky divers. I politely said no because of my fear of height. It would've been interesting though.

Warning...PSA:

If you are a female of at least 18 years of age you should go to the gyno once a year, regardless if you are sexually active, but especially if you are sexually active. Dionysis, I hope you go soon (though not at the behest of your friend) just in the interest of your own health. But this friend of yours for real needs to go to get bc pills because certain ones aren't good for people w/ certain conditions (or they're better for people w/ certain conditions). I can't stand how stupid some people can be (not you, dionysis, your ex-friend!!!

ETA: If I can go 4 times a year, then certainly anyone can go once, because you don't have to endure nearly what I do (early stages of cervical cancer).

To add on to that, if your friend is afraid to go, but only wants to go for BC pills, it may be a good idea if she just goes to Planned Parenthood. I'm not entirely sure if she needs to be examined though, if she goes there because I go through my own doctor. Anyone know for sure?

Swissmiss, I'm also very sorry to hear what you're going through. I have two friends who have cervical cancer (one is 20 and one is 21... so young), and my cousin was just diagnosed. Good luck with that, and I hope your story inspires others to be more aware.

I am pretty sure that if you don't have insurance and go to planned parenthood then you have to be under either 18 or 19 to qualify for the cheap birth control they perscribe ( and you do need a normal examinatin).

Or the public health department. I had a lot of friends who did that for birth control when they were afraid to tell their parents. Whatever it takes!

Yeah, Planned Parenthood makes you get an examination although I've never had a rectum exam

But it's not that bad. It's very quick and it's good because you will begin to understand your body better so if you find something wrong you'll know faster. Also, they have a certain waiver that you can do. I forget the name of it but it excludes the pap but allows you to still get on birth control ~once they've established you've had a pap there.

Personally though, I don't like Planned Parenthood. I have started going to my University's Health Center because they have been able to answer questions to health problems more efficiently and diagnos things. Planned Parenthood just gave me a fluff answer and sent me on my way...taking my money and all.

If you ever encounter this ex-friend again, tell her that you can buy birth control pills on the internet without a prescription. I'm not trying to encourage, her, but it's in ALL of our best interests to keep this woman from reproducing any way we can.
