Little Chapters / Big Chapters
First:
Who is your BIG chapter?!
Who is your LITTLE chapter(s)?!
Aaand, are you a big or little chapter in size? How big is your KKPsi chapter if you have one? How big is your band? Your University? Suggestions for TBS growth?
Big Chapter: We dont know, I think it was Pitt... Gamma Omega
Little Chapter: PITT! Gamma Omega! (when they recolonized for like the 3rd time)
We are a chapter of 9 actives, 3 MCs and 1 conditional member. Our Kappa's have 23 or so actives. Our band has shrunk to 60 or so members from over 100. Our University is 7000.
I wanna hear your suggestions before I give mine!

Our chapter is 11 strong from a band of 50-60.
Our big brother chapter is Psi from UCLA. As of now we're the youngest KKPsi chapter in the country.

Big Chapter: Emporia State University Gamma Zeta
Little Chapter: University of Missouri-Columbia Zeta Omega
Chapter Size: 22 actives, 3 active alumni (on campus)
Kappas have 16 or so with 2 conditional members
Band Program: 200 pulling from a campus of 5000 plus community members
Retention is the first step to making TBS stronger. Keep the members you have and you can just maintain membership to keep the chapter strong.
Ways of Retaining members:
Make meetings orderly and purposeful.
Interview members who are leaving. Ask why they are leaving. Ask then what the chapter could have done to make them stay.
Integrate the new members into the active membership. Maintain families in your organization. It helps strengthen the bond of sisterhood.
As far as recruitment goes...
Incorporate interested peoples into the organization. Let them see what Tau Beta Sigma is.
Plan a recruitment service project.
Invite them to visit during a social.
Free food is always an option.
Learn from your Kappa brothers.
If their membership is higher, find out what they do.
See if you can modify their methods and use them to increase recruitment.
Maintain the attitude of "whichever chapter you join, we will be happy. " If kky and tbs can't work together and appear to be harmonious, it can be hazardous to our health.
Try lots of different recruitment methods if you're having trouble. See what works for your program.
Hope these were the kinds of suggestions you were looking for!

The funny thing is - we use all of those ideas and were still tiny. Oh well... we are more organized than our Kappas and we are more fun in my opinion... not that I dont love my brothers lots and lots!

UConn, Gamma Kappa, is my chapter's big sister chapter (Delta Delta, University of Massachusetts)
We have two little sister chapters: Boston University, Eta Gamma, and Marist College, Iota Alpha.
Our chapter has decreased in number somewhat over the past few years. When I was an MC in Fall 2001 there were 20 active sisters and two conditionals, and there were 15 active brothers in the Kappa Kappa Psi chapter (Epsilon Nu) and two conditionals. A couple years before that there were around 40 sisters and around 30 brothers.
Right now we have 14 active sisters, 2 MCs, and four conditional sisters. The brothers have 14 actives as well, with 4 conditionals, but no PMs.
Our band has around 300 people. There are 20,000 or so students at UMass, maybe closer to 25,000.
