Roofies, GHB, Whatever you've heard it called...
The following didn't happen on a college campus but it is a lesson for all women who go out and have a few drinks. No situation (including mixers) is completely safe. The issue of drugging someone's drink needs to be addressed and reiterated as much as possible.
I know that this is a topic we all hear too much about, but since it happened close to home, I'm writing.
Ladies, be very careful when you go out. We all think that people getting something slipped into their drink happens elsewhere. It happened to my roommate Friday. She was in a "safe" place (a local casino in Detroit) and with older women from work. She ended up in the emergency room with a temp of 92 and barely coherent. They say it's a good thing I was at home and able to see her deteriorate and not just think she was drunk. If I hadn't been there, she could have died.
She had 2 beers, bottled beers. Nothing is safe these days. Please, this is one of the scariest things that I have ever gone through and don't want anyone else to have to experience it either. BE CAREFUL!!!

KarenC is exactly right about this. A fraternity chapter at a local college is under investigation for possible GHB use at parties -- and according to a police spokesman, the problem is MUCH larger on that campus than just in the Greek System.
A local bartender was quoted in the newspaper saying that women should never leave a drink sit and even keep a hand over the top of their glass.
And the problem goes beyone potential date rape. A man at Ohio State died last year after purposely taking GHB himself and drinking beer. He was a fraternity member, but the incident apparantely did not happen at a Greek function -- just out partying at a campus bar.
What is really scary is that a couple of these "date rape" drugs are really animal tranquilizers. Putting that kind of stuff into your own or someone else's body is just dumb beyond words.

A year or so ago, a girl that lives in the next town died from GHB. Her death caused a nationwide alert about the "date rape drug". I read the article in PEOPLE magazine, and I knew people that were friends with her. Samantha and her friends made the biggest possible mistake anyone *guys or girls* could make. No one shoudl ever let another person make their drink unless its a bartender or someone you absolutely trust. Those girls were hanging out with their friends, but also with a guy who was much older that they didn't know. I trust all my sisters and the fraternity brothers, but I still do not leave my drinks unattended at parties. You never know what sick prank some could pull.

In many ways its sad... there some times not much that you can do when you are a victim to something like this. Though you can write your school paper and trust me bring plenty of attention to the matter.
Homecoming week this past year, I was at a party with the fellow frat that we were paired up with for the week. While there a brother slipped a ruffie into my drink causing me to black out after only one beer. My best friend (and sister) came into the bathroom when I hadnt come out for a while.. I was lying on the floor. They got me up and took me to her boyfriends where I would be ok.. people thought that I had just drank too much, but she knew something was wrong. I endedlosing all control of my limbs pretty much and had to be carried home by her boyfriend.
the next morning I woke up in my bed having no clue how i had gotten there. It was the most scariest thing that I had ever had to go through.
Be careful!

One thing to consider - know your bartender. A bar in Pensacola (I think - it was somewhere around here) was shut down because the bartenders were getting paid to put drugs into drinks before the ladies even got them! That is really scary! Be careful!!!!!

Gosh, that is really sketchy. Considering how my friends and I all used to go to Pensacola in HS to party.

That is so dangerous. I would hope that in the future, any of you would know to take someone like this to the emergency room. Don't worry about getting into trouble about the alcohol-it could be something much worse, like this drugging, and waiting could cost someone their life.

This a great reason to never leave a sister alone. One of my sisters was slipped one in her soda at a party. I had left her alone or let her get a ride home from one of the guys anything could have happened, and she wouldn't have known.

Scarey thought about Pensacola. My boyfriend was stationed there for a few months and when I visited we went to a lot of the local bars.

What is especially scary is that a lot of younger girls are so clueless and naive about this situation. I'll give y'all an example. We have several orientations over the summer for incoming freshman, and my boyfriend's fraternity usually throws parties during the orientations. Well, a guy from another fraternity showed up and was trying to mack on some of the freshie girls by telling them "cool and funny" stories. He told them how he had accidentally roofied himself b/c he drank the wrong drink, woke up in his bed, and had no idea how he got there. And all these little girls thought it was just the funniest thing ever! I was apalled! I was like, "The reason he drank the wrong drink is that he was trying to roofie someone else!! Don't you understand, you stupid little girls, this guy is not cool!" I know what fraternity he is in and have been spreading the word about this story to every girl I know. Using roofies doesn't make you cool; it makes you a criminal.

Stupidity really comes to mind when some Moronic Asswhole uses drugs to have sex. I know it is illegal and i hope they get fingered. Just Remember, you need dead bang proof to prosicute!
If I ever found out one of my Actives Brothers was doing this I would end up in prison!
It Is F---------- Stupid and idiotic! Do not feel bad if you have proof and turn them in! You are saving yourselves!

I personally think it's pathetic and f**ked up that a person would have to use drugs to get a girl in bed. I hear about these drugs in college and I think to myself you have to be pretty sick and twisted to use them. Word of advice, watch out for the pathetic ugly guys in the bar, it may be one of them too!

Boy is GHB really a terriffying experience, in August this past fall I was drugged at a party, I know who the guy was that did it and he is notorious for it, in may I was randomly talking to a few friends of mine and we just happended to find out we were at that same party and 2 out of the 4 girls were drugged that same night by the same guy. It was a horrible experience. The only thing I remember after I drank my drink was lying on the bathroom floor of my dorm, saying to myself, I am going to die if I don't get help. The next thing I remember is waking up the next morning. 2 days later a girl, who I didn't even know walked upi to me and told me how she found me wondering on the 1st floor of my dorm, (I live on the 3rd), she said I couldn't talk and was just all glazed over, she finally got my room number out of me and she said she put me to bed. Trust me if you are ever drugged you will know it and I pray that it doesn't happen to any of you or myself again. It was one of the scariest nights of my life.
