Greek Life Jobs?

I know this may be an odd question and I'm not sure if anyone can help me out, but I figure that it can't hurt to ask...
So I am part of a local sorority and although I am now an alumni, I am still interested in being involved with or working for Greek life... Since I am part of a local, there isn't a national headquarters (obviously) that I can work for.
So I was wondering if any of you knew about organizations/groups/companies that set up events/conventions/etc for Greeks. It is something that I am really interested in, but am not sure companies like this exist out there. If anyone has any information I would love to know about it. Thanks so much!

Actually, not everyone working at national HQ's have to be alumni of that organization. (as evidenced by the fact that two guys work at my sorority's national HQ) If you are interested in doing something like that, I would check and see if any groups have HQ around your area. In my opinion, you would be a great asset since you already have a knowledge of Greek life, the Greek alphabet, etc.

Same with any of the umbrella groups like IFC and NPC. Good luck and let us know if you find anything!

Question for you... Do you have any idea of how I would go about figuring out if there are any national headquarters in my area? I wasn't sure if there was a website that had a list of where everyone's headquarters are, etc.

Go to your Public Library...there is a directory for "National Organizations" or something like that, and yes, there is a section for Fraternities. Look these up and start checking their addresses.
For what it's worth, Theta Delta Chi (men's fraternity) is headquarted in Boston..dont' know any others. A TONNE are in Indiana!

Hey guys! I just wanted to say thank you for all of the help! Just to update you, I went to the Boston Public Library and it looks as though the only national headquarters in Boston is Theta Delta Chi. I have sent an email out to them, but haven't heard anything yet...
Apparently a lot of the nationals seem to be in Ohio, Indiana, Virginia and Georgia.. good amout in PA too.

I am kind of interested with this too but I'm not sure how lucritive it would be. I mean it might be something that would enable me to go back to school and pursue graduate work. What I am looking for is anyone that has any information/advice on Campus/Greek Life Jobs and jobs related to Campus Recruitment/Advising. My sister in law tells me she thinks I'd be a great advisor with my background. Like an RD of some kind. I imagine that the academic advisors would have to be Professors. Anyways if anyone has any advice or information let me know.

I know that there are graduate programs out there that deal with fraternities, sororities, and secret societies. My boyfriend's friend is doing this program and says that it is very interesting. His career objective is to be a greek advisor. Our greek advisor is not a professor. I would imagine that his graduate background is probably the same thing as my boyfriend's friend. Maybe you can look into something like that.

Most Greek advisors have master's degrees in student affairs. Go to www.studentaffairs.com and check out their site for a ton of information! You can even get all or part of that degree by distance learning.

Unfortunately, unless you become the VP of Student Affairs, you won't find big bucks in the field.

The rewards are great, especially if you love Greek life. The big problems come when the organizations act immature--you know, steal composites or cheat in rush. On the other hand, you deal with the same kind of stuff if you work with dormitories or athletics.

Hi All!


I am currently pursuing a career in Student Development in Higher Education (carnation referred to it as Student Affairs, also correct). Though my interest is in Student Transition (you know, like freshmen orientation), "Greek Affairs" is also a specialty area. Carnation is correct, most people who work with greek life on a college campus are working towards, or have, a Master's degree in Education, Counseling or "Student Affairs." I don't think you'll really be able to get a job like that unless it's a really small college. One can check out the websites for the two main professional organizations:

If you go to NASPA's site, they have a link called "Knowledge Communities" on the top page. You'll find a link to their specialty area for "Fraternity and Sorority." Vixenradio, perhaps you can post your question there and see if those folks can point you in the right direction.

at a public university near St. Louis, and I love it. I am one of the exceptions to the "Student Personnel" rule. I have a Master's, but it is in Political Science, not Student Personnel Administration, Higher Ed, or Counseling. I basically got into this position through prior experience, both professionally and as a volunteer for my national.

The money is adequate, but you will never get rich as a Greek Life Adviser (or in most Student Affairs positions for that matter). However, an important thing to keep in mind is that the higher up the chain you go in higher education, the less contact you will have with the students. That is the part of the job I really enjoy and makes it worthwhile. Also, I know lots of Greek Advisers who supplement their income through consulting and public speaking. Some do quite well!

I know the LXA International HeadQuarters has several members working for us from other Fraternitys and Soroitys on staff and hold some very important jobs!

If I had not wanted to move when I sold my last business, I would have applied for a Job at Head Quarters and been happy as a mud lark bathing in a mud hole

the greatest thing is working with young adults so as to help mold them in to the people they are today and the companys they run or the things they do!

Look at each Greek Organizations list of Famous people and i gaurentee you they will mention what they learned as a member
