Relaxers!!!
Good Morning to all of the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
I am running a personal survey to just get an idea of which relaxers are preferred and which ones are considered the ones to stay away from. As a person who just recently began relaxing my own hair, professionally of course, I would just like to get some advice. Thankyou for taking the time out to respond to my post.
sincerely,
black~n~proud

I know when my hair is relaxed I use Motions. It works for me.

Motions @ Home
Mizani with my old stylist.
Honestly most perms work on me so I am good to go that way.

I prefer Botanicals or Optimum. If you have sensitive scalp, I would also try Designer Touch - Sensitive Scalp Formula.

I use Mizani Mild and love it.
Before I started going to a salon, I used Just For Me

Hope you don't mind non-Delta's replying
but when I was relaxed I used Revlon and I would not recommend it at all. It straightens well, but was very strong and I had lots of damage.
I know a couple of people use Affirm and they like it

I went to my sisters stylist when I was down in ATL in May and she used Mizani. That's the best perm I've had in a minute! It's been about 7 weeks since my last perm and I just now need another one. Usually after 4 weeks I can hardly comb through my hair! I'll definitely be using Mizani from now on!

Mizani
Here is a vote for Mizani's Rhelaxer (sp?), mild strength. My sister, a cosmetologist for nearly 30 years, uses it on me.
Before I started using it, I used to have terrible issues with breakage and itchy scalp. The beauty school I went to used Revlon, perhaps that's what causes damage.
My sister did what was virtually my virgin head with Mizani, and the breakage has drastically stopped.
I also have my hair professionally colored with Redken Metro Color.
BTW, I don't do any relaxing at home. I get mine for the, err, "Family Discount."

I mostly use Motions cuz I have yet to find a stylist that I actually LIKE since the one I had moved (darn her lol). But when I do decide to get my hair relaxed by a professional, I choose ones that use Mizani.

My stylist used Designer's Touch sensitive scalp on my hair. Although last week, she used Affirm(I really liked it a lot). In the past, my stylist used Dudley. I found it to be a little harsh and drying to the scalp.

I really like Gentle Treatment and Revlon Fabulaxer. My favorite is Designer's Touch.

I've used Motions but didn't really like the results. I'm currently using Vitale. It works fine to me. I don't have issues with breakage and my hair is healthy considering I haven't had my hair professionally done in almost two years.

I use either PCJ or Just for Me. I have also had Vitale, which worked very well also.
As far as color I use Clairol Nice and Easy or Hydrience. They tend to be not as harsh as the Revlons and the Dark and lovely brands.
