Whites for ritual attire
It is not secret that almost all (I know of some exceptions) sororities require that you buy a white dress to use for pinning, initiation, etc.
So if anyone either needs whites or can no longer fit in your whites, there is a pretty inexpensive dress at the Gap. Also, for chapters that wear black, there is the same dress in black.
It is here .
Just letting you know.

How long are the Gap dresses? We need ours to be cocktail length or longer. My initiation dress was really short, but now that I'm an advisor I think I need something more appropriate. I've looked all over the place and I'm getting to the point where I might just attempt to sew one myself.

*bump*
This is $40 on the GAP website, but $20 in stores - it's below the knee on me and I'm 5'6". Might not be a bad dress for ritual stuff, depending on your dress codes, of course.

I bought a cute white dress thru Chadwick's a year or so ago. It was sleeveless but had a cute cardigan. I don't get their catalog anymore so not sure if it is still available.

that surprises me. if you buy something, they generally have got you for the duration. did you move? if you want to do the net thing, they've got a good aggresive web site.

I did move, but I did get the catalogs when I first moved here almost 4 years ago. Other than that white dress, I don't think I've ordered from them...they are not the first company I think of when I very seldom order close off the internet. I do like www.coldwatercreek.com
I have a female mailcarrier...maybe she took them, lol....just joking!

Dressbarn SHOULD still have their long white linen dresses. I bought mine with my employee discount back in April. They also have buttloads of plain black dresses (long & short). It's worth a shot. I'm a size 4 in the misses (equiv. to a 5/7 roughly in juniors) and that's as small as they go. So, dressbarn may not be for everyone, but it's worth a shot

You just saved me LIFE with that link! I have been trying to find a dress for the first day (we have to where either wide strps or strapless bright color dresses). On that link they have the pretty baby blue colored strapless dress.
I think you just saved me a trip to the dressmaker! Now let's just hope tomorrow when I go to the gap, they have my size! *crosses fingers*
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I could kiss you!! hahahaa
