Question Alphabetical Order of the Index Page

This isn't necessarily for greek life, but can any of the Mods tell me why the Greek letters on the index page aren't in the order of the Greek alphabet? (ie: the page goes Alpha, Delta, Kappa, Sigma, Phi, Beta instead of Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta....)

just wondering...

After all this time, someone finally recognized and asked that question!

I wonder if it just isn't that the software doesn't recognize the Greek Alphabet and so when it was set up and sorted Alphabetically, it was done so the English way... by Alpha, Beta, Detla, Gamma...etc.

Good Question though!

I always wondered about that too but thought maybe I just wasn't catching something or they were put in there in no order.

Well, I'm not sure if this is the answer you were looking for, but apparently when the GreekChat forums were set up, they weren't done alphabetically. If you look at the links to each forum listed, they are listed chronologically by "forumid". So instead of being listed by the name of the forum (i.e. Alpha, Beta, ...) they are listed by an internal number that you don't really see unless you pay attention to that kind of stuff like me

Working in the web world, I can offer up that the programmer who aided in the design for that section did everything alphabetically - its pretty much standard for all the bulletin boards I have designed - Although it is not in alphabetical order in Greek, the majority of us (Greek or not Greek) will look for regular alphabetical order when looking at a long list. This might have been their frame of thought.

But, they're not even in regular alphabetical order. When you look under Greek Chat Forum, it has General forum and then proceeds with Alpha...Delta...Kappa, instead of Alpha...Beta...Chi...etc.

Don't worry, that's the first thing I thought, but when I realized it wasn't even alphabetical that way I went with my other thought.

Just a thought...

Has anyone looked to see how many posts are under each?

In other words, are there 1000 posts under Alpha, and 750 under Delta, and 600 under whatever is next and hen 450 and on down?

I can certainly see Alpha as being very "popular" with all the organizations beginning with that letter. I wonder if it corresponds from there?
