SERIOUS POLL #3-EVERYONE please read & reply
OK, thanks to everyone that responed to my earlier two questions. Here's a follow up question that requires you to do some remembering and emotional searching of yourself in a truthful and realistic way.
Before and during your RUSH, what was your main reason for wanting to join a Greek organization?
A. To meet more girls/guys
B. To have a good party scene
C. To belong to something big
D. To get the status or prestige
E. To be on winning athletic teams
F. To get academic support/test files
G. Other (please specify)
PLEASE answer as HONESTLY as possible...try to remember what you were thinking as a Freshman or Rushee BEFORE you decided what chapter to join.
THANKS!!!

I just didn't have anything else to do, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The school really pushed going through rush, if nothing else to have something to do, and to meet people around campus. I don't think they pushed it so much the last 2 years, and maybe even didn't tell the freshmen much about it, because there sure wasn't much response.

My answer is A - to meet more girls. I didn't know many girls attending my college, so my mom encouraged me to go through Rush. It was a great way to meet a lot of girls with similar interests in a very short period of time. I'm so glad my mom talked me into Rushing. If she hadn't, I wouldn't have all of the many wonderful memories of my college years with my Delta Zeta sisters!

A. sort of. i joined to meet more PEOPLE, both girls and guys. i didnt join for the romantic hookups (those were a perk ), but to simply be social and get out and meet people on my campus. so if you mean in general then A. if you meant finding a girfriend, then G.

G. I suicided Kappa Alpha, because my limited knowledge at the time was that KA was a exclusivly a southern fraternity. Thats all that mattered to me. Not the people, not anything else, just that it was southern. That was good enough for me. Pledging taught me that all my preconceptions where not accurate, thankfully. Thats about all you really know going into rush, its kind of like a stab in the dark unless you have been around the greek scene with a older brother/sister.

I would have to say
A--Bein a commuter campus, its really hard to meet people
B--Also, nothing really to do so why not party?
F--My GPA was so low, and I didnt realize how much Phi Mu could help me. I've gone from a 1.9 to a 2.55. My sisters were awesome thru that rough time.
G--I wasn't really friends with my old friends from high school. I was kinda lonely, and I wanted people to hang out with. A girl from my chapter (who ended up bein my Phi Mom) kept calling, and wouldnt give up. So I finally went, and now I have 40 or so great friends!

I duno what I been told, Phi Mu girls are made of gold!
