New here- aspiring ZTA

I came to greek chat mainly to ask about being Black and wanting to pledge ZTA. Do you guys out there think that I'll be accepted and fit in in this sorority?

NPC recruitment doesn't work that way. You go through the recruitment process and meet all the sororities then hopefully end up in one through mutual selection. A sorority is different at every school so you need to go through recruitment to find out where you fit in best and who wants to give you a bid. It might be ZTA or another group so keep an open mind.

No, it wasn't a question pertaining to my specific personality. I'm trying to find out if African-Americans "fit in" to the predominately white ZTA.

That's going to vary too much by chapter. At some schools you would not only be accepted but really sought out because of a desire to diversify their membership to make for a more interesting group. At others, not so much. And there's not a snowball's chance in hell anyone would admit to being the latter. You're just going to have to go through the process and see how you feel. This is where the MUTUAL selection comes in to play. Not only do they have to decide if they want you, but you should spend some quality time thinking about if you want THEM.

The NPC sororities, of which ZTA is a member, do not discriminate on basis of race, religion, or nationality. So being black will not exclude you from ZTA. Whether or not you are given an invitation to join will be based on a variety of factors, including your GPA, year in school, resume, and personality. We on Greek Chat do not speculate on a person's chances of getting into any particular sorority. Membership selection practices are private, so no one can tell you your chances of getting a bid, if you'll be accepted or if you will be a fit. Fit varies by sorority and by chapter. Keep an open mind to all of the sororities participating in recruitment and read the thread linked in my signature. Good luck.

Oh, and you haven't mentioned why you are looking at only ZTA. If it's an informal or COB opportunity that's fine but if you're thinking about formal rush, you should be open to every NPC sorority. You are inviting disappointment if there are 10 chapters (or whatever) and you have your heart set on 1 before even getting started. Since you haven't clarified why you are looking at just one I won't judge, but make sure you're looking at only them for the right reasons.

When you use "aspiring" in this sense, it immediately makes one think of an NPHC sorority. Like it's been described above, NPC sorority recruitment just isn't like that.

There are a lot of wonderful sororities out there, ZTA being one of them. Keep and open mind when you go through recruitment. If ZTA releases you, there might be several other chapters who are still interested. Best of luck!
