Greatest Love Songs of All Time???
This past weekend, while conversing with some older bros., the question came up; "what was the greatest love song ever written?" Now I know that in the AKA forum we discussed the best wedding songs, but there are some great love songs that simply aren't appropriate for weddings.
My choice has, was, and will be "Because I Love You" by Lenny Williams. A close second is "Sensuality" by The Isley Brothers, followed by a whole slew of Luther Vandros hits (which can't be #1 because he's fakin' the feelings if you know what I mean).
So, what are you nominees for Greatest Love Song of All Time?

Prof,
how old are you again? w/ the exception of "You and I" you're talking about elevator classics.

I'll say "Always and Forever " by heatwave. Or "Can we take a minute" by Rasaan Patterson.

I remember "Kiss and Say Goodbye." 1976, by the Manhattans.
Since we're also talking old-school, remember "Float On" by the Floaters? 1977.

I feel both songs Prof and Steeltrap, but "the best love song ever"??? "Kiss and Say Goodbye" is top 10, but "Float On" - nah!
In the immortal words of Steve Harvey at the Kings of Comedy Concert: "If you ain't ol' school, you ain't sh!t!"

That's a hard one bruh!
Man! The GREATEST LOVE SONG OF ALL TIME? That's gon take some thought. Maybe if you broke it down into subdivisions like: greatest break-up love song, or greatest seductive love song, or greatest romantic song of the '90s, '80s, or 70s. Of all-time? that's a tough one!

Damn - I'm going back in the day. Remember Young Love by Stacy Lattisaw - I thought she was the best looking girl I'd ever met. If she is on the board, I still love ya!!!
Oh hell, Where do we go from here.
Minnie Ripenton(?)- what did she sing. My ex loved that song. I forgot her just like I forget the song.
Very Special - All my love is all I have . . .
Pointer Sisters - My mom's jam - something like "I'm ridding in your car, you turn on the radio, you say ..... but when we kiss fire. I use to hate this song. My mom played the shit out of it. I'm surprised I still rememebr most of it.

They used to play this on 93FM WZAK in the mornings when they read the horoscopes... I can still remember dude's voice with this song in the background... Aries...
Kiss & Say Goodbye used to be my song!!! I love to hear it on the oldies station here! Reasons, a slew of Luther songs, I'll Be There, (I Love You) Still, Truly, Sukiyaki, I could go on and on, but...
