Lightbulb Rush Ideas

Hi, I've posted this message before under a different category, and I'm hoping to get more replies. I'm Rush Chair for the Spring semester and I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about what themes I could use for the formal rush parties. Also, I need to think of a cute slogan for the rush t-shirts. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it! Thanks

I can't even believe I remember this, nor why I remember a sororites rush ideas but anyways, one of the sororities my senior year had sort of an "around the world" motif that was kind of cool and won them the recruiting award. At the beginning of the whole rush process, every girl was given a "passport", and every time there was an event, the passport was stamped. If they went to "France"- a night out at a french restaurant or something, they would have that country stamped on the book. If they went to "Tahiti" by going on an excursion to a tiki/karaoke place, they got that stamped. As they went through selection rounds the places got more exotic, they even decked out thier house as a villa for the "Italy" visit. Anyways, it seemed really cool, and they had the highest rush class that semester. Just figured i'd hook ya up with the info.

Thanks for the ideas! The only thing that I should have mentioned in my original post was that we don't have houses on our campus. We hold rush in one of the buildings at our school and it's in a classroom. I don't know if any other schools do it this way. I appreciate the ideas and I could use a lot more before the new semester begins. If anyone doesn't have sorority houses, please let me know how you do rush and what types of themes you do! Thanks!

You could have an "All American" theme and decorate in red, white, and blue. That may be over done though, after September 11.

Wester-decorate with bales of hay, gingham, bandanas, boots, cowboy hats-it sounds cheesey but my chapter has done it and it's cute (then again we're in Oklahoma)

island getaway-decorate with palm trees and tropical vacation items-you could lei (sp?) the PNMs when they come in.

Do you do skits? You could have a skit that corresponds with your decorations.

What GLO? I could tell you what they do on our campus-if they are here.

musical themes where each house is a different area of music, 80s, rap, boy bands, country, disco --could make for some fun attire and decorations
decades where each house is a different decade and gets to dress up in that style of clothing and play the appropriate music...
something a small school could do is the four seasons, or holidays, we have four orgs here so we did seasons last year and it was a lot of fun...
