A hypothetical question about the conference shuffles

So, I have a question about what you guys would think about this. I know that conferences have been changed and mixed up before, but there are a lot of things going on now- Big 10 and Big 12 mix-ups, the Big East seemingly breaking apart, etc. My question is, if a school such as WVU were to be accepted into the SEC (and this is just for example), would their rush automatically become much more competitive as a result? I know it would be less so than the typical hardcore SEC rush, but I was just curious as to what you all thought.

If over the years, the type of students entering the school changed because of the conference realignment, I'm sure rush would also change as a result.

It would take a while though. And call me crazy but I don't think anyone in this neck of the woods is going to start wearing dresses to football games anytime soon, competitive rush or not

I was tailgating yesterday and thought this very same thing! We, Big 10 people cannot imagine going to a football game in a dress. By November, you need some serious layers and warm boots.

That is a cute tradition but I can't wrap my mind around the thought of wearing a dress to a football game!

May I just say that I LOVE how you took conference shuffles and related it to sorority recruitment. I think that is too funny because I was wondering the same thing...lol. I guess great minds think alike!

I don't buy it. I am sure that rush at Vanderbilt is different than rush at Bama and Ole Miss.

The dress thing? I saw sundresses at FSU yesterday but it's Florida. By November, people will be in hoodies and jeans. More so at the SEC schools north of here.

Conferences don't make rush different.

@ als463

Well, I was honestly thinking, I know that girls in Morgantown wouldn't necessarily do typical SEC things like wearing sundresses to games. Rather, it's widely known that every single school in the SEC really recommend getting recs, if they don't basically (and unofficially) make it mandatory. I'm wondering if a school such as WVU, for instance, joins and so then would the general consensus say to make sure you get recs here as well? Because, from what I understand, they don't rely on them nearly as much as the rest of that conference. Also, I know that the more northern schools in the SEC are quite different, yet i really do see similarities and a bit of quintessential "southernness" in them. Possible additions, I don't know.

Well, we've already had two schools join the SEC in the past, Arkansas and South Carolina. I don't think Arkansas was ever NOT competitive, and South Carolina is nothing like the rest of the SEC, so I doubt the conference would have much of an effect of recruitment.

Believe me when I say to you that when temps are at 90 and above and the sun is broiling down on you in the stadium, a dress is often the coolest thing a girl could be wearing.

Also, it's fun to dress up for ball games, you know, unless it's raining or cold. Cold typically isn't an issue until about November in Tennessee and Georgia.
