My Semi-Live 2011 Recruitment!
I'm going through recruitment for the very first time this year, and I'm incredibly excited! We start soon, so I thought I'd start this thread and (hopefully) release some of my nerves/anxiety!
My schools' recruitment isn't terribly competitive (from what I've heard), and more than anything, I'm excited just to be experiencing it! I haven't decided on a code yet, and to protect my identity, my posts will be delayed a few days, as I think it would be fairly easy to figure out what school I'm at. If you think you know what sorority/school I'm talking about, feel free to PM me and ask, but please don't spoil the fun for everyone!
I'll post again in a few days with an update! Good luck to all those ladies going through recruitment this year!

We don't like to respond with verbal pauses because it makes the thread unnecessarily long. But rest assured, we're reading! As of when I just looked at this you'd had 248 views.

I have two adorable lovable cocker spaniels. Great dogs, hopefully a great sorority too
There are too few stories here for smaller Greek systems, so I'll definitely be following your story. Don't worry about the record number of PNMs- that means the chapters can accept more women, not that there are fewer spots available. Be sure to mention your class standing explanation at each group- otherwise the automatic assumption is that you'll be graduating next year. Sometimes that matters, sometimes it doesn't. Best of luck to you!

I'm not aware of any schools in Iowa having a bed quota, and in fact I only know of 1 school in the whole USA (Indiana) that does. My guess is your boyfriend has his info mixed up. He certainly doesn't mean Iowa, ISU or UNI. Even in the old days pledge classes varied every year.

Indiana! That's what I was thinking of! I couldn't remember where it was, only that it started with an I. I'll go back and edit that to make it correct.

No problem. They are a whole different animal and can't be used as a similarity to ANYONE.

Alright, I was trying to do these a few days delayed, but I can't help it! I just got back from Pref, and I am soooo excited I have to share with everyone!
----------------------------------
Day 4: Preference Day
I got my schedule, and saw that I had been cut by Cocker Spaniel. I was a little hurt, I won't lie, but then I remembered all the fantastic advice I've learned from GC this summer, particularly the "You only get one bid!" I also realized that Bluetick Hound has truly been my favorite all along - even when I had just decided to go through Recruitment and was just looking at their websites, I always thought to myself, "I'd like to be a Bluetick!" So, I psyched myself up for their pref party! I went and ate lunch with my boyfriend, as I had a long break, then went to the party!
At Bluetick, they did a little meet & greet with the women, then we went into the ceremony room. I had the same rusher as the day before, so I was so incredibly excited. Let me just say, I have never felt at home with a group of women like I did in that room! I bawled the entire time, and I just knew this is where I was meant to be! All the women looked so excited to see me crying, and managed to get me some tissues. Afterwards, we got some one-on-one time with our active, and it made me so excited that they invited me back! I am so thrilled with my results, despite feeling a little jealous at the girls who had full schedules each day, and I really pray I get a bid from them!
