Sororities at the University of Florida
I've been recently introduced to the idea if joining a sorority at UF, and no matter how much research I do, I can never seem to figure out which one is right for me. I'm not a cheerleader or preppy at any level, I'm somewhat in the indie scene and I would love to join one that I might be compatible with. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Meeting the girls yourself is the best way. Whether that is through formal recruitment, casual hanging out or an informal recruitment process, nothing we can tell you will tell you how or who you'll fit in with.

Hey! That's what is so great about recruitment. You get to visit all the chapters and see which ones you really click with. It's really great, because you have a chance to see what every chapter is like before you make your decisions. You might hear something great or bad about a chapter, but then when you actually meet them you might love/hate them! I'm sure you realize that stereotypes and reputations are meaningless, because UF chapters are HUGE and have tons of every kind of girl. I can pretty confidently say that you could have friends in any chapter. Have fun at a great school like UF. Good luck!
Here is the NPC page for sororities at UF:

Well, you won't be able to figure out which one's the right one for you because it's impossible to do so online. That's what recruitment is for. You won't be able to find a right fit until you meet the women in the houses. Not having an open mind about the houses before going into recruitment is NOT suggested.
If you're seriously interested in UF recruitment, get your recommendations together NOW. If you don't know what those are, read the stickied threads on GreekChat do a search on UF recruitment. UF recruitment is highly competitive, so it's best to get your ducks in a row before you do anything else.

Being Greek at UF is amazing so I highly recommend you do it. I recommend you go through formal recruitment in the fall so you get to visit all the houses at least once. Also, if you're doing summer try talking to some girls in class or just get to know some sorority girls. Recruitment is a little exhausting, but you get to meet so many wonderful people and possibly wind up in a great sisterhood. Most important is to keep an open mind, which it seems that like me when I went through recruitment you dont know much about the chapters. Girls you're rushing with will say terrible things about each house and it can definitely influence your opinion. Pi Chis try to crack down on it, but people always talk and it's unfortunate. So yeah, keep an open mind because there is a place for you somewhere!
