Ideas for a points plan?? HELP!!
So my chapter really wants to improve our attendance at other greek organizations events but we aren't sure how to do it. At the moment, if we just mention an event that another sorority or fraternity is having, hardly anyone goes. Other chapters at our school have points systems that make it mandatory to go to a certain number of events in order to be able to go to formal/date party at the end of the semester. We want to get some sort of point system like this but there is the problem that we are not allowed to assess, so we cannot force them to go to something that they have to pay for. :/ we are trying to think of ideas, but we are kinda stuck. If you have ANY ideas of what we could do or maybe even what you're chapter does so that we can try and fix this problem that we are having.
any advice would be much apprectiated
THANKS!

I guess my first question would be...what on earth kind of events (I'm guessing when you say "events another sorority or fraternity is having" that you mean philanthropic events) are the other groups having that require you to PAY for it?
If you mean mixers, take a vote before the mixer is held as to who will be there and who won't. If at least 2/3 of the sisterhood won't be there...cancel it. After about 3 cancelled mixers (and the campus gossip resulting from it) they will change their tune, unless your sisters are hopelessly antisocial.

we have a point system where a sister has to attend %85 of sorority activities every month, meetings count 20 pts, and if they dnt attend and are unexcused the are deducted 20pts, etc. there are mandatory and non-mandatory events, but if you sign up for a non-mandatory and don't go you lose points. sisters can make up points in other areas, points for working, attending other on-campus events, donating blood, etc. if a sister doesn't meet this then she is put on probation. we only use fines during i-week activities

My chapter uses a points system, and it has been very successful in helping our chapter grow on campus. If a sister falls below 80% attendance for required events, she is put in poor standing. The only things that people can get excused for are emergencies, class and sometimes work/medical appointments. Required events include weekly meetings, occasionally Panhellenic meetings, philanthropy events, recruitment events, rituals, and new member events. It sounds like a lot, but it's typically no more than 2 events per week. We can't include socials or anything we have to pay for as mandatory, but we do our best to encourage attendance at non-required events by making them as fun as possible!

For philanthropy events, every member of my chapter has to attend at least two Panhellenic or IFC philanthropy events in the fall to be allowed to go to semi-formal, and two in the spring to be allowed to go to formal. Occasionally, non-PHC/IFC events can count towards these two, but it depends on what they are. There aren't points associated with these events, but the threat of not being able to attend a formal event works wonders in getting people involved

are you talking about philanthropy events? my school has a big greek system and there are usually multiple philanthropies going on every weekend. exec sends out information to the chapter when we find out about upcoming events and usually don't have an issue getting people to participate. the chapter pays for all of the philanthropies, so more people to want to go.
