C.O.B - can I ask?
I dropped formal recruitment because I was only left with my last choice. But I'm interested in trying C.O.B. if the chapters I'm interested are offering it this semester.
I don't know how to find out about these C.O.B events, my Rho Chi said check the facebook groups but I dont want to rely on that ... I mean what if they dont update them ..
Anyway is it okay to email the chapter asking if theyll be doing C.O.B this semester? Or is it out of my place to do so? Because I heard it was out of place to ask about snap bids .. since its private chapter preference or something .. so can I ask about C.O.B or should I not?

Talk to your Greek Adviser. He/she will know who is doing COB and can put your name forward for them to consider.

I'm also wondering who to ask about COB. The Greek Advisor is supposed to be getting in contact with me tomorrow about the other thread I posted, so should I bring it up with him then?

Absolutely. At this point, the Greek Advisor would probably be your best source of information.

oh that's right...because they are the Sororities she wants, not the one that wanted her.

Pretty sure she'd manage to crawl on her hands and knees to the "right" COB parties.

excuse me? Our C.O.B is a while after formal recruitment, so it wouldn't be an issue then. I think these petty personal attacks can stop now.

I would NOT email individual chapters to ask about COB opportunities.
Your GL office should be able to tell you if a certain chapter is holding events.
However, I would not count on getting a bid in the same semester from a chapter who just dropped you during formal. Very rarely will a chapter extend a bid to someone that they just dropped days or weeks earlier.

KSUViolet, I didn't mean you were attacking me. Your reply was helpful - that was directed to LadyLonghorn

I would be amazed and impressed if in a recruitment field of 1200 pnms, for instance, a sorority that had to release 50% at first cut, could remember why it cut all 600 girls. Not having to deal with release figures, I would expect the only manageable way would include some superficial criteria, which would not prevent a second look in COB. Different story of course, the further in to recruitment you get.

We have well over 1200 PNMs who participate in formal recruitment each year. You would be surprised at how many members remember taking Susie Sophomore through last year. They remember exactly why Susie was released the first time around.
To the OP, please keep in mind that only those chapters not at Chapter Total are allowed to particpate in COR. Depending on the campus, that often means only a few chapters will be COR'ing.

Exactly, and that's at a huge recruitment like Bama. In any smaller recruitment, you're almost guaranteed to be remembered from formal.

I'd imagine with chapters in that situation (very large PNM pool, have to make steep cuts the first round), there isn't always a "reason" a PNM gets cut, but rather that they know who they want to keep through their social networks, legacies, women with whom they went to high school, etc. I'd doubt there was an actual damning "reason" for every PNM released from a competitve chapter in a large recruitment, just a lack of reason to keep her.

BINGO! The chapters that have to make huge PNM cuts due to RFM will "keep who they want" instead of "cutting who they didn't like". I would even go a step further and guess that those chapters that have to make huge RFM cuts the first day or two probabally reach quota (or snap bid to quota) and don't have COB spots available to fill. Therefore (to the OP) you may not be able to get a COB from the chapter that you ideally want.
