I heard that Kid Rock was going to be performing... what! Oversampling of "Sweet Home Alabama" (and "Werewolves of London") does not make you country!
It makes you cashing in on other people's nostalgia.

I like how Kid Rock sounds when he ACTUALLY sings. "Picture" with Sheryl Crowe was the first song he ever "sang" instead of screamed and I LOVED it.
So what about Darius Rucker of Hoot and the Blowfish? He's got that Dont think about it single out now....

Yeah, Joe the Strummer was pretty funny.
So Carrie is on her third outfit already? She does look beautiful, and clearly has become much more comfortable on stage since her Idol days.
I am not a big fan of country music and actually am not familiar with many of the songs tonight. However, after living in Nashville for a few years, I have such tremendous respect for the performers and just enjoy watching for them.
One person I do not get though is Taylor Swift. Clearly I am missing something here.

OMG THANK YOU! She's a good performer. She's a good songwriter. But, everyone in Nashville knows that she had to have vocal retraining with Brett Manning. And, she still sings off-key most of the time.

Lady Antebellum winning best new artist over Rodney Atkins was bull. Just so you know. He had 4 straight singles go number 1 this year I think.

He had three singles in the past award period. These Are My People and Cleaning the Gun went to no.1. Invisibly Shaken topped at 41.

So my numbers are wrong. He still shoulda won. Lady Antebellum is, um, not so good, while he's gonna be big.
And I think he did have 4 straight go to #1, they just weren't all this year. It would be "If You're Going Through Hell", "Watching You", "These Are My People", and "Cleaning This Gun".

I disagreed with Lady Antebellum as well. I thought it was cool that Carrie Underwood won Vocalist of the Year and George Strait is just awesome anyways.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brad Paisley and thought what he did after he won his award was absolutely sweet.
But Shania Twain being the surprise... that was LAME.. I was thinking it was going to be somebody bigger than that but oh well.

I obviously missed the beginning of Kid Rock's performance, so why was Lil Wayne playing the guitar? Did he sing w/ Kid Rock at the beginning?
I just sat there scratching my head because he wasn't even playing the guitar, it seemed like he was air guitaring it.

He just showed up. And, you're right. He was only "air guitaring" it.
