Is Obama the Anti-Christ?

Mayor 'just curious' if Obama is antichrist
By STUART WATSON / NewsChannel 36

Posted: Sunday, Sep. 28, 2008

FORT MILL, S.C. -- Fort Mill Mayor Danny Funderburk says he was “just curious” when he forwarded a chain e-mail suggesting Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama is the biblical antichrist. “I was just curious if there was any validity to it,” Funderburk said in a telephone interview. “I was trying to get documentation if there was any scripture to back it up.”

Funderburk apparently sent the e-mail from his business account at Gastonia Sheet Metal where he works as a business agent.

The e-mail, which has circulated in the last six months since Obama secured the Democratic nomination, claims the biblical book of Revelation says the antichrist will be in his 40s and of Muslim ancestry.

There is no such scripture. And Obama is not a Muslim. But that hasn’t stopped the e-mail.

The urban legend Web site Snopes.com first exploded the myth in March. Funderburk forwarded the e-mail this month.

When asked if he believed Obama was the antichrist, Funderburk replied, “I’ve got absolutely no way of knowing that.”

Funderburk said it “probably does give that impression” that he believed the e-mail was true “but that was not my intent.”

The mayor said it was a mistake not to include a subject line when he forwarded the chain e-mail.

“I am curious about current events and their connection to the Bible,” he said.
-------------------------------------------------------

He he, chain mail.

What an idiot

My MIL sent the same email to me a few months ago, and I replied all telling them it was a stupid email, and she got pissed at me...but the email I got kept quoting "A Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40"

I'm disappointed than no one took the time to research his true age. Plus, if his Pastor was Jeremiah Wright, then he couldn't be Muslim. I don't recally officiants being called "Pastors" or "Bishops" or whatnot.

The mayor has proven not to be the sharpest knife in the drawer for getting involved in that chain mail. Shouldn't he be running the city or something anyway?

um....i think that if the mayor is dumb enough to believe a chain letter via email, then the whole city just might be better off if he does something else for the day and stays out of it

No, the antichrist is probably going to have to be a pretty good speaker to get people to support him. And no way they foresaw teleprompters back then. Take the teleprompter away from Obama and have him act like the antichrist and you'll get:

"Uh, uh, uh, well, Jesus, uh, shouldn't follow him, uh, but I mean that's a very sensitive question, uh, and I wouldn't think to, uh, well, impose on people. So, uh, well, that's above my paygrade."

funny

There's a real quick way to settle this issue, get someone late at night to check every inch of his body to see if there is a 666 somewhere

My dad used to swear that George Bush (the first) was the anti-christ bringing in the New World Order which would signal the end of times! Didn't happen! I bet he'd jump on Obama as anti-christ as well, but he'd never say it to me, because he knows I'm voting Obama!

If I was your dad and I knew you were planning to vote for the anti-Christ, I would probably warn you.

And you don't want to have your dad saying "I told you so" in case it turns out Obama is the anti-Christ, so you should probably vote for McCain instead, just to be safe.

With McCain being as old as he is, and Sarah Palin being his idea of the person qualified to take over for him if something happens to him, I don't see anything "safe" about voting for McCain.

Just sayin'.

She may be ditzy, but there's no suspicion of her being the anti-Christ. I know which one I prefer. Better safe than sorry!

Ditto. I don't know anything about Palin. She just somehow appeared, and in 9 weeks I just can't see knowing much more about her, other than the fact that she has no clue.

As far as Barack being the AntiChrist, I always thought the moron we have in office right now was the Anti Christ. He wants the "Haves and have nots", sounds "anti" to me.
