Roots received 36 Emmy Award nominations, winning nine. It also won a Golden Globe and a Peabody Award. I remember watching Roots with my family when it first aired. It was indeed groundbreaking.

I remember when it aired too. I was just a kid but it made a strong impression on me. To this day I get chills thinking about LeVar Burton's performance. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, this time from an adult perspective.

Tomorrow night on PBS, they are airing an episode of Pioneers of Television dealing with Miniseries. The first part will be about Roots.
