Alpha Chi Omega at KU dies in car crash

Chancellor's statement on death of KU student Bethany Weidensaul

University of Kansas Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway made the following statement in response today to the death Tuesday evening, Nov. 23, of Bethany Weidensaul, a junior in education from Wichita. Weidensaul died in a car accident on the Kansas Turnpike in Butler County. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Funeral services are pending.

"On behalf of the entire KU community, I want to express my profound sorrow at the death of Bethany Weidensaul. This tragic accident fills us with sadness, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends."

My heart goes out to her family. I was a Mr. Alpha Chi runner-up for the Gamma Nu Chapter at San Diego State. Alpha Chi Omega is very dear to my heart. She, as well as her family, will be in my prayers.
