Jacksons Dream is alive in the Islands.

a brother from my chapter theta delta lives in hawaii and has been helping another alum start a chapter at university of hawaii. along with the aid of the ARM for Area 5, Mike Olivas, these brothers were able to pull in a remarkable 42 people interested in our order. they have already been pledged and apparently this is one of the fastest turnarounds from colony to chapter. they arent a chapter yet obviously but are well on their way.

I kept in contact with Jason B. ever since Kappa Sigma first made news on campus and my girls have nothing but positive things to say about these guys. I've known some of them for a while....some of their pledges have attended our functions in past semesters, so it's awesome to see them making Greek life better at UH-Manoa in the name of Kappa Sigma.

Since Kappa Sigma came on campus I heard that reorganization within the Inter-Greek Council is in the works. Our VP-Student Affairs (who is also an Alpha Gam) has recently been appointed to the North American InterFraternal Foundation, so Greek life's definitely waking up.

I'm attending the Alpha Gam RoseBall next month...hopefully I'll get to meet more Kappa Sigmas!

That's great...hopefully they continue to do well and make a good name for themselves in the Greek community and university as a whole.

Great News

That is so cool that we colonized UH-Manoa...

As far as I know we are the only International Fraternity to have a colony or chapter anywhere in the islands... is this true someone who knows?

The AA out there (Jason Bothwell, Theta-Zeta) is a past DGM of my district and I can say with confidence that he will push those guys really hard to excel, regardless of the size of the campus greek system....

They better get a nice big house... because I can see quite a few visiting brothers "dropping by to crash on a couch"...

Congrats to the pledges at UH-Manoa!!

Beta Theta Pi, TKE, and Sigma Phi Epsilon have all had chapters at UH-Manoa at one point. Can't recall who was first -- I want to say Beta, but not sure.

ucsb???

on kappasigma.org, for a few weeks they had both hawaii and ucsb listed as upcoming colonys. now hawaii is a fullfledged colony and ucsb is not on the upcoming or fullfledged colony lists. anyone know what happened?

UCSB

UC Bakersfield Colony got off the ground just recently but apparently our interest group at UCSB fell apart.

That school just seems to be elusive for Kappa Sigma.

Give it time, it will come... personally I want to see UCLA recolonized...

We have to remember that we cant colonize EVERYWHERE at once... we have colonized more schools in the last 2 years than in the decade previous or something ridiculous like that.

Also - about UH-Manoa - Do any of the other nationals still maintain a chapter there was my question???

True...sometimes it can take quite a bit of time to get the colony process off the ground and on the way to chapter status. A lot of factors come into play, so we should give all of this news time.

Like Mike said, we've had a lot of expansion in the past year; some of it has happened at lightning speed, but that's not the way it has been (or will be) with every situation.

When I graduated, TKE was in the process of getting back to campus. According to the campus paper, they're still around -- and I checked their HQ site, so I guess they're active again.

I met many of the Kappa Sigma colony men last night at my chapter's RoseBall.

Everyone had a great time...you guys definitely got some quality guys out here. Too bad they weren't around when I was still in school!

That's great that they are quality guys...hopefully the colonization process goes well and they become a new chapter quickly.

Sorry to intrude on your forum, there isn't a UC in Bakersfield, do you mean Santa Barbara?
