There is a current book out right now called Click Clack Moo

it won the Calecot medal for best award that year. its about a group of cows who discover a typewriter and start delivering demanding notes to Farmer Brown. It's hysterical.

Oh, what a wonderful, wonderful topic...

Ramona Quimby series

Hardy Boys

Nancy Drew

Amelia Bedelia

Velveteen Rabbit

Paddington Bear

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Wayside School (or something like that? Wayside School is falling down??)

The Magic School Bus!!! (I loved watching the TV show too!)

Any Disney book, especially Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty

The Berenstein Bears - I had a whole COLLECTION of them! And there tapes, too, to read along!

Carebears

Sweet Valley Middle School, and of course HS

Curious George

Witches by Roald Dahl - oh, that was the highlight of 3rd grade! THe video also cracked me up.

Three Little Pigs

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Little Red Riding Hood - I was her for Halloween one year

And my favorite -- Those wonderful books by Richard Scarry - he was a magnificent drawer, too, and taught us little kids what's right and what's wrong (like: Baby Fox ran down the stairs too fast and he broke his leg. Mrs. and Mr. Fox were very sad. Children, you do not want your parents to be sad, do you? Baby Fox learned his lesson and went down the stairs slowly.)
I still own his books! And I'm not ashamed of it! Well, maybe a little...but still .

Talking

Can't believe no one has mentioned Madeleine yet! Say it with me:

"In an old house in Paris
All covered in vines
Lived 12 little girls in
Two Straight Lines...."

Love it!

Oh, what a GREAT topic! My favorite kids books are--

1. Wait till Helen Comes(sooooooo scary!)
2. Island of the Blue Dolphins
3. Roll of the Thunder, Hear my Cry
4. Any Judy Blume book

Little Kids
1. The Story of Ping(sidebar--when I was a freshman at Elon, we had to walk by the lake to get to the dining hall and we had TONS of ducks and I always remembered the story of Ping--its about a duck--and we tell my roomates, who would look at me like I had 2 heads--they had never heard of the story. So, I vowed that any of my best friends and my future husband would HAVE to know the Story of Ping. My friends all do now!)

2. Madeline(LOVE that story!)
3. The Polar Express
4. I Love You Forever, I'll Like you For Always
5. Any book by Roald Dahl

When I was little, I LOVED those Little Golden Books. My absolute favorites were Tootle and Scuffy the Tugboat. I loved it when Scuffy went out into the lake or ocean and was so tiny. Too cute.
