I saw her in concert with the Ike and Tina Turner Review at my college Homecoming in the fall of 1969. I was on Union Board and had 5th row tickets.
She was mesmerizing!
I remember being close enough to see the perspiration flying off her as she whirled and being illuminated in the spotlights. When she and the Ikettes did “Proud Mary”—it brought down the HOUSE!!
A WONDERFUL memory! She was spectacular…

Ugh, her and Betty White were amongst the celebrities that I never imagined passing away...rest in power/peace and may her memory be a blessing! Such a legend. Truly heartbreaking but she lived a great life.
