I have been battling a case of the worries and stress. My wife is overseas in desert chasing camels (the War).
Our daughter left for college in August.
Our son started high school but is home schooled this year.

I've been trying to survive this semester- 18 credits and working 20+ hrs/wk.
Can't wait for final exams to be over next week- I'll have time to breathe again!

Oh jeez...
I've been interviewing for residency positions for next year - going into pediatrics. The way in which they pair soon-to-be residents with hospital programs is identical to sorority recruitment, what with the rank lists from applicant and program that's all sorted out by a computer. Pretty easy to say that this is the most travel intense year of my life. Overall though, the 4th year of med school is pretty sweet.
Places (other than Omaha) I've been since November 7th...
Lincoln (football game)
Kansas City (Thanksgiving/travel stops)
Chicago (only O'hare though)
Los Angeles (had to take a national clinical skills examination)
Denver (airport x 4)
Las Vegas (airport x 1)
Little Rock, Arkansas (interview, drove from KC)
Oklahoma City, OK (interview, drove from Little Rock)
Salt Lake City, UT (interview)
Tucson, Arizona (interview)
Heading to Dallas this coming week for another interview on Friday (flying through St. Louis)
It only gets crazier after the first of the year with 7 interviews scheduled over the course of 12 days...

Sorry- been swamped here. Today is my first real visit to GC in some time. Business has been booming, and I am dealing with a very sick relative who means the world to me. She is in hospice now. It sucks, but she is in no pain and unaware of the indignity of her situation. Once you get thise close to the end, this is as good as it gets- and that is some comfort. I cannot ask the Lord to not let someone die, but I can hope he makes it a gentle process- and he has.
Otherwise life is good- just busy.

Just a little update for my online Beta brethren.
Match Day for medical students across the country was 11 days ago, the day where all of us find out where we're headed to continue our training. I'm very excited to have matched into Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas and Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock! It's an awesome hospital (11th largest pediatric hospital in the country), an amazing program, and the people are incredibly nice. Certainly not where I imagined myself a year ago, but it's amazing the way things work out.
Unfortunately there aren't any Beta Chapters very close by, so my goal of working at the local level within the fraternity will have to be put off until later...
Oh and to briefly add to the locations I traveled to this year:
Indianapolis, IN
Columbus, OH
Lexington KY
Cincinnati OH (airport and drove through)
Winston-Salem NC
Chicago (Midway airport this time)
Memphis TN (airport)
Denver (DIA x 2)
San Francisco (Airport x 2)
Sydney, NSW, Australia!
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Kangaroo Island, Australia (google it)
